@StillIRise1963 There was a reasonable suspicion that approximately 1 in 1,000 Caucasian men were thought to be immune to HIV in the mid 90s, because of a specific common mutation.
You would not believe how many just assumed they were that 0.1%, without any basis at all.
@Oggie Also, I knew someone like this. Her boyfriend had AIDS before any meds. She slept with him without protection. She said she thought she was immune. I lost my shit at lunch with her. Her boyfriend died. I don’t know what happened to her.
@StillIRise1963 I've always assumed this to be true, even as a kid, just one of many others. Some of them have had better luck than me, others worse. I think that's what motivates me to try to help float everyone's boat or at least give others the chance to get their boat floating.
@isotope239 Yep. Life is a crazy thing. You never know what can happen. I know some think they have it all under control, but that’s usually temporary. It’s a rollercoaster.
@StillIRise1963 Very very true. Speaking strictly for myself, somehow that doesn't bother me though. I know very well that each day could contain some event that will upend my life but I just... not exactly ignore it but try not to either expect it or assume I have any control over it. Now one thing I DO have control over is making sure I vote for political representatives who aren't viciously insane! 🙃
@isotope239 I feel the same way about it. I try not to do stupid stuff, but that’s all I can control to the degree I can control that. And, yeah, I wish more people understood they could control that.
@thepoliticalcat@StillIRise1963 Not a bad way to describe it. I don't think there's such a thing as karma (although I wish I did!) but I know that just striving to be kind and to pay it forward makes me feel good. Or at least a lot better than hating people and being nasty.
@StillIRise1963 Since 2020 when 5 people, VERY close to me DIED. Mom of brain cancer and the other 4 family members died of covid. I was devistated by the loss and I am now homeless. Think YOU’RE having a bad day ?
@StillIRise1963 And try to get help from the VA or county agencies. I’m ready to give up. It doesn’t help I am watching the collapse of a once great nation where it’s people put $$ over human lives. I don’t even want to wake-up in the morning anymore.
