billbennett,

One thing I would love all marketing people to understand: My phone does not need any more apps... especially when what you app does could be handled by a web site.

@billbennett I feel the opposite about desktop applications. I dislike the migration from os level apps to websites. They always screw up shortcuts and right-click, and since it's not "installed", moving configuration files from one machine to another is either hard or impossible.

Recently I was looking into Graphite.rs, a graph based SVG editor, but even though it's rust WASM, they don't make any cross platform builds. Just the site.

@billbennett For location, contacts, other permissions etc? Boo on apps

@billbennett I find annoying as some companies stuff, have just taken their website and wrapped it up in an app. My experience with that is very broken with lots of #Accessibility issues when it comes to wanting to share the article. If I wanted to use the website I’d go into Safari on my iPhone, and the share button is in the same place at the bottom of the screen.

billbennett,

@DHarvey Yes, Accessibility is often awful on apps. That's what got me thinking about this. My eyesight is deteriorating fast. I often need to crank up text size. With Safari I can do this, I can also use the Reader function. Most apps simply don't let you make the text large enough.
