She was hired because USC was "troubled" so she must have pledged to have something to offer, and can't have thought it was a time to coast--and yet the people who hired her looked at her performance at UNC and were like, let's hire her

(I believe Folt came in in summer 2019, after faculty and the board forced out her predecessor in summer 2018) (I was hired in 2016 and it's been nonstop shitshow)
ETA: given her mandate at hire, it is amazing that she hides from USC's shadow/her own spine all day long, but she does
@inquiline wow, that’s pretty horrible. I remember reading some of these stories, but my brain didn’t connect them all to USC, maybe because it seems so implausible! Hard for universities to escape these doom loops, like Michigan State, or University of Arizona (which has also had serious problems with its med school).
@ukuku Yeah. Her job was to halt the doom loop. Instead she's paid a LOT of $$ to consultants to put us on an infantilizing "culture journey" to generate campus "values", which at the slightest hint of trouble, the administrators themselves abandon and run from. The culture remains corrupt, dysfunctional, retaliatory, opaque, etc.
