@aby You also are nicely isolated in a bubble both social and internet that makes you think Australians are less racist than they actually are. Like when internet bubbles gave Berners in the US the delusion that it was impossible for him to lose because everyone they knew liked him, oblivious to the fact of how many Americans even democrats still feared the word socialism caused by 50 years of brainwashing about it. Luckily many of them bounced back from this.
@aby You can call it socialism or left leaning but what this referendum shows is both the overwhelming meanness of 2/3 Australians and/or the gullibility that they believed the dross swilling around social media.
An educated, empathetic and open minded population wouldn't have voted this way.
It shows that Australia is not only deeply rooted in a racist system, ALL of it's leaders have every intention to stay there.
Otherwise we'd have Treaty, and it wouldn't be business for colonisers to be voting on. If the government was truly concerned about equality of Aboriginal people, there would be movement towards Land Back and recognising our Sovereignty.
@aby I'll be blunt. If Australia were conquered by aliens or some sinister global power, would those who voted No go along with the plunder and devastation visited upon them?
Because by voting as they have, they seem to be saying that conquest is acceptable, and to the conqueror, the spoils.
