@Jeremiah hmm. Not sure I understand how they are going to get your DNA, but an EU citizen could invoke their right to be forgotten by Nissan after riding in one. I’d love to see Nissan try to figure that one out.
@Jeremiah
"NOW IN SHOWROOMS!
The new #mozilla FireEV. Drive it where you like, when you like, listen to whatever you like and do anything you want to do in the back seat with whomever you like, and we will have no idea what so ever because it's none of our fricking business!
@Jeremiah it is utterly horrifying to see the extent of the implied invasion of privacy. But I also find it strangely hilarious - that they are so brazen as to list it openly in the Privacy Notice and then pin all responsibility on the customer.
@Jeremiah@fasol did you have a conversation like this in a Nissan?
"... their TOS actually says, "You promise to educate and inform all users and occupants of your Vehicle about the Services and System features and limitations, the terms of the Agreement, including terms concerning data collection and use and privacy, and the Nissan Privacy Policy." "?
🙈🙈
I wonder hat the EU version looks like. It 'might' differ a little.
@Jeremiah So, I know Skoda (a VW subsidiary) allows enabling offline mode in a service shop. They say it also deactivates the EU-mandated feature that automatically calls emergency services in an accident, so it feels like they really make the car offline. Has anyone looked into that? I couldn't find anything.
@webuiltthiscity@Jeremiah@lisamelton I know this is naive of me, but I've never even thought about a privacy policy for a car. It must be because the newest vehicle I've ever had was a 2004, and I bought it used - I've never had a car with all the newest computerized gadgetry.
I love the ones where you are supposed to inform your passengers of their alleged obligations and releases to the car company by getting in your vehicle. Yes, that's a normal thing people will certainly do.
@Jeremiah Hence why I’m sticking with my 25 year old truck! 🤯 My car payments just come in the form of regular mechanical repairs, and I would much rather have that than today’s dystopia-mobiles!
