I had the lovely opportunity to talk about my generative art projects at #emfcamp ! Embracing the variety in each and every project is very important to me. That's why producing a new series (for example for my Patreons) can become quite the challenge really quick! So, how do create 50 unique t-shirts when screen printing is not an option? Check out my talk!
Added a new[1] configurable curve subdivision kernel for https://thi.ng/geom to (iteratively) subdivide polygons/polylines with displacement, allowing for super compact code, infinite variation, and beautiful results like shown...
[1] Actually been using this approach since 2010, initially for 3D mesh subdivisions (3rd image)
Linear Memory (WIP), variations on a theme... exploring the terrain. Impressed by the resulting complexity, considering the simplicity of the system/setup...
@rzeta0 it should read:
«Padrões biológicos e reação-difusão: Este encontro pretende apresentar de forma informal e divertida o mecanismo de reação-difusão, falando um pouco das suas origens históricas, importância para a ciência e mostrando código simples capaz de gerar padrões complexos e orgânicos"
Marcelo Malheiros é carioca e nerd assumido.
Finished my root system #generative#embroidery experiment. Made by starting with a full thread, splitting into 2, then again into 3. Decided to add a second grey layer under the white to give it some depth. Pretty happy with this. :)
One of the challenges for #generative artists is trying to find a fresh new approach or algorithm. Lots of ideas have been done to death.
Occasionally a new idea pops up.
Q. What's yours?
In the last year, mine was the gradient estimation method for rendering the fine structure of the Mandelbrot and Julia sets. It was an algorithm that was a genuine surprise discovery for me!
I'm very excited how nice the colors pop! Custom fabric prints sometimes end up quite dull but this one is just fabulous! And I even have a few meters left. Maybe I'll add a skirt!
@sasj This graphic looks kind of funny. Looking at it, the black lines could be the support structure. The black circles would be the hinges to animate the graphic. But it wouldn't rotate without destroying the structure.
