@voxel There once was an interview with Tim Cook where he said that data is encrypted from an iPhone to the Apple cloud and encrypted in traffic back from the Apple cloud to the iPhone. Unfortunately, he said that is is E2EE. And furthermore unfortunately, I can't find that reference any more but it struck me like a lightning.
Meta/facebook once did the very same stunt: sell traffic encryption as E2EE.
Meanwhile, Apple has fixed some things here but they're still the company that lied to me.

@EpiphanicSynchronicity@voxel As soon as a company who only delivers closes source software does promote a wrong understanding of #encryption, the whole company can't be trusted any more.
No independent party is able to check anything related to the implementation. The software delivered can contain any number of #backdoors - voluntary or not.
If #security or #privacy is an issue, the software needs to be #opensource in order to be able to check its claims.
