@LALegault That’s very weird. If the recipients also have iMessage then that should just work unless you’re having a data issue (or they are). The only people I use SMS with aren’t on iPhones (and then there’s the couple of people who insist on Messenger and one friend who uses Signal—I’ve never managed to get anyone to use that for any length of time, especially people who are addicted to WhatsApp).
@LALegault Yeah. I’ve only ever used WhatsApp for a brief time, and it was while I was visiting relatives in Europe. Deleted it immediately afterwards. And yes, European privacy laws tend to be better—but if the anti-encryption push gains traction (especially in the UK), or the bizarro idea of making services interoperable, then it’s all going to become a disaster.
@cjgyt@LALegault I used What's App just one day because there was an event I was involved with where a group was using it. Once the event was over I ditched it.
@cjgyt@LALegault Aside from Signal, there are a number of other free/libre/opensource apps for texting & chat like #Tox, #Wire and #Briar All of them have a much smaller user base.
