I keep reading that #GoogleSearch changes are killing small sites. They are indeed.
Last year I figured that the only way to keep my blog somewhat relevant was to strengthen the direct commucation with readers. I bet on #RSS and #ActivityPub.
Year over year, Google traffic share went down from 46% to 25% and direct traffic share went up from 37% to 54%. And the total traffic is up!
@sesivany This is the way! Usually I find interesting blog posts on the Fediverse or https://lobste.rs and add them in my feed. It's rare for me to come across useful blogs through search results.
Similarly, I am more and more persuaded that https://www.spamhaus.org/ is just a conspiracy of the large email providers to eliminate independent competition.
@plantarum@pluralistic I'm grateful that I don't actually have to think about Corey's analytics or ad revenue when I decide how I want to read his stuff. Presumably, he gets the same info or doesn't care if I read his stuff post by post, click through to the website, or read it on via rss on Feedly in its entirety. Some authors I genuinely worry about whether my click directly gives revenue, generates a valid page view, or not.
he's pretty explicit about not tracking anything from his website, and invites readers to his domain to read his stuff. I think that puts him in the 'doesn't care about your data', or more accurately 'actively doesn't want your data' category
Can anyone recommend some good programming blogs (in the realm of lisps, emacs, guix, technical deep dives) that offer RSS feeds? I've already got https://wingolog.org/ from @wingo which is pretty much the exact genre of blog I'm looking for. https://ianthehenry.com/posts/ from @ianthehenry is also a good one (although the RSS feed doesn't seem to work with GFeeds :).
I just think it would be cute to have a selection of RSS feeds to browse through :)
@screwtape My "blog" site is automatically generated off my public Mastodon feed. All users of our instance can simply put a URL in their profile ([username].emacs.ch) and it automatically sets up the site incl. SSL certificate. We call it "Autoblog". Aren't I a genious? 😉
»"The Future is Federated" – Flipboard beginnt kompletten Einstieg ins Fediverse:

@kev Do you have a link to the spec for this tag? I’d like to try with my Astro-based site and will report back. Maybe it’s to do with needing to define the “source” namespace?
#today rather than any of the things that I probably ought to be doing, but feel too much like work on this bank holiday Monday, I am working up to #sonification of my #RSS#efficiency data...
I've got almost 300 items in my RSS reader. Currently using NewsBoat over ssh to read them but it's less than ideal on mobile. I'm considering switching to Miniflux. Found plenty of positive reviews of it recently. Do you use Miniflux? What's your opinion? #rss#miniflux
🧵 …to find the corresponding RSS and Atom feeds of exciting and interesting blogs and co. on the Internet, you can search on @feedle. I have already informed you about this here in Fediverse. And it's easy to subscribe in the web software above.
Today’s a bustling day at Accessible Android! If you’re an RSS enthusiast and want to keep up with our latest posts and app listings all in one feed, here’s the URL for your RSS reader: https://accessibleandroid.com/feed#RSS#Android#Accessibility
We need an #RSS reader with "Reply" and "Repost" buttons. These actions would occur on a blog you connect with #Micropub or #XMLRPC, and use #WebMentions to notify the originating site.
