The Oshawa and Scugog Chambers of Commerce debate had to be cancelled because the conservative candidate Jamil Jivani wasn't willing to show up.
Nothing new, however.
Conservatives such as Premier Ford and Mr. #Poilievre routinely refuse to show up for debates. They can’t handle the questions or anything that isn’t part of their script.

@gemelliz@justinling Defeating Poilievre won’t be done by debating policy and facts, he’s successfully made these irrelevant. It will rely on convincing the fool that they have been taken for a fool. But this criticism must come from one of the valued fools, otherwise it’s just noise from the other side. It’s all noise, just who pitches it, when and how, and who’s prepared to accept the noise. An artful and cynical manipulation.

Thank you for all your insights and comments. If it were only mstdn posters voting in next election, there wouldn't be a snowball's chance in h*ll that PP would be PM. Without question, this site is an echo chamber; hopefully other Canadians will wise up before the next fed election. Feels less and less likely that PP will crash and burn before then.
Journalists should respond by reporting not only on the answer they got, but all of the follow-up questions they would have asked if they were dealing with someone with integrity wanting to run the country.
The story needs to constantly be on Poilievre's lack of transparency.
@Martin@gemelliz@justinling I fully agree, but the reporting these journalists do will be vilified as fake-news by Poiievre's supporters or ignored as irrelevant. Poilievre relies on these "circles of ignorance" created by the "circus of noise" to insulate himself from critisim. His supporters can & will ignore criticism, until they consider themselves out of his circle.
