Some nice progress; WSL hosting Tailscale as a container, which exposes Cockpit to manage the containers and Tailscale itself (via the container image).

very early stage, but so far happy with how this is going.

Anyone on #Hetnzer ? How are they nowadays. We’re on #digitalocean for a few servers (FlatTurtle.com) and they are definitely no longer the cheapest (once you upgrade RAM for example) and the performance hasn’t been super great (but that could be more of a feeling than something scientifically proven)

Just saw they have #arm64 servers available in #Germany

    @gbraad Maybe — guess it depends on the people/age. My wife’s mom and some of her friends seem to be too eager to believe some dodgy ‘online news’ and youtube videos

    I've set up a simple bash script to update a DNS record for my domain with CloudFlare whenever my home IP address changes, this effectively using CloudFlare as Dynamic DNS service:

    @michael Doing the same here. Started off based on https://github.com/tech-otaku/cloudflare-dns.git and modified to add Wireguard/tailscale as well as lan IPs and of course the public IP (via ip.superuser.one). Works like a charm

    @cdrum @yeri @michael For dydns to work no, but to do anything useful yes. Cloudflared is a solution though (creates a Wireguard vpn to Cloudflare edge: https://github.com/cloudflare/cloudflared)

    Been using @MonaApp on iPad instead of @IceCubesApp and I think I'm starting to prefer Mona app... Sorry 😅

    Icecube progress stalled a bit, and the app is generally quite slow to load new toots if you haven't opened it in a while.

    (Not yet as convinced of Mona on Mac, I enjoy the speedy #mastodon web interface).

    You can see that #Sidekiq tasks have been slowly going down (fewer users using #Mastodon/#Fediverse?). Then I had this massive drop early May (not sure why, but likely a relay that stopped working).

    I've now added a bunch of new relays and seeing the number of tasks going up massively (to the point Sidekiq is running 4-6hrs behind in my #Federated #timeline -- maybe I need to QA and remove some relays?)

    Can see Sidekiq-1 has a massive increase in CPU usage.

    I've now spawned a second #Sidekiq container (running two in total). Let's see if that helps to get the task queue down, so I don't see 6 hours old posts...

    @victor Yea, single user and yes, I basically went all in and tried it all (FOMO?). I may likely take some out but I haven’t really thought about “how to pick good relays” yet.

    @victor hmmmm I got mine from some github page (https://github.com/brodi1/activitypub-relays). The c.im relay for example never works for me.
