not sure I love the color I picked out for the guest bedroom walls; it's a little darker tone than I thought. N likes it though. oddly, since I don't think he liked it that much when I picked it but now he's painting his new office that color on all walls too.

    flooding currently in fmb and sanibel thanks to Idalia pushing up and the high tide. saw a video from the causeway.

    nhc is really conservative and they even finally said potential major #hurricane.

    tomorrow is 11 months since Ian and it seems like all of swfl is having some sort of traumatic event stress reaction to Idalia. so many people (us included) still have so many repairs from ian not complete yet.

    Well, I didn't stop to get gas on my way home as planned today because it was thunderstorming. lucky for me, as it turns out the gas station I was going to go to was selling gas tainted with diesel... but somehow the 7-11 I got gas at earlier this week was not one of the tainted locations. lucky 🍀 still need to find some gas tomorrow.

    I come home for two days to do laundry and water my plants and care for my fish and sleep in a bed that doesn't aggravate my sciatic nerve... I'm mostly repacked for leaving again tomorrow. need to replenish a bunch of stuff: contacts, dog food, dog poop bags, coffee, nsaids.

    the dryer caught fire again. the delivery folks think something is up with the electrical (which my GC BiL rewired in january). they speculated that someone put a 4 prong outlet in on an old three prong wire or something. maybe. seems unlike him though. anyway guess I'll be calling some electrical company because I'm not fucking with 220/240.

    we picked paint colors and floors. i didn't have a good time trying to pick vanity lights for the bathrooms. (if there's a place you like to find light fixtures, let me know!) we have to go pick tile this week. and carpet for the bedrooms getting new carpet. I'm glad we're making progress on all of this, almost 11 months after Ian. #HomeRepair

    the GC was able to figure out the cause of this leak we have from the upstairs to the center of the house is... basically if the upstairs balcony fills with water, it just comes right into the house. no drainage holes and it's sloped towards the house for some reason. great. there was old damage there from before we bought the house, probably from Irma. so ridiculous

    I'm feeling really unsure about whether I want to drive back to the beach house tonight or very early tomorrow morning. the replacement dryer delivery window is 7-11. last time they showed at 8 on the dot.

    If I stay at home tonight in my comfortable bed, I would have to get up around 5 and leave here around 0545.

    Or I could just drive down tonight after dinner and get up at a more reasonable time tomorrow morning. by myself or with both dogs or maybe just with one dog.

    I'm back home for the weekend. the crew finished the first phase of the interior work - insulation, drywall, tape, skim, texture. not sure when they will have a crew for phase two (paint? I did pick paint colors on thursday). kind of hoping we'll get a week break or something. the house is pretty dusty as expected even though the crew was pretty good about containment and vacuuming. GC is coming by today to inspect and get paid and discuss next schedule.

    I accidentally left my keyboard and trackball at the beach house and I guess I need to go dig out another keyboard and pointing device.

    My keyboardio model 100 arrived right before Ian did last year so I haven't even plugged it in, almost 11 months later. it's sitting on a table with one of my looms.

    (I have way too many mechanical keyboards and don't actually use any of them with any regularity)
