Last night, my husband @douglaspynn had an MRI and it was about 7:30 pm when he was done, we had not eaten dinner so we decided to do takeout at a place that we have never been before but had good reviews. When we arrived, there were quite a few people at the order window unmasked of course so I called in our order over the phone. This is me waiting for someone, anyone there to acknowledge my existence at the pick up window. 1/

vickietorious,

2/ seeing this photo made me sad, it has a very lonely vibe to it and I feel like this is an experience many people who continue to protect themselves from COVID by wearing a mask must have. I was surrounded by people (out of frame) coughing without covering their mouths, some giving me the side eye. The staff would not make eye contact and not one asked me if they could help me. I was now in freeze mode, I felt overwhelmed and finally Douglas came over and we went inside to get our food.

vickietorious,

3/The indoor staff that had to help me were not very friendly either, the whole experience put me in a bad mood, and I had a hard time shaking it. It left me feeling exhausted and my chronic pain kicked in. I don't think I will ever go back to the place again.

The food wasn't worth the effort it took to get it.

One impact of COVID that we don’t talk about enough is how people are avoiding medical care because of lack of precautions like masking in healthcare settings. This doesn’t show up as COVID deaths or hospitalizations but delays in screening, diagnosis, and treatment increases the mortality rate of other diseases like cancer.

vickietorious,

@luckytran that would be me and my husband both. Dental care is another area I (we) have been avoiding...at least I can mask everywhere else, but you can't at the dentist. I have so much work that needs to be done.

Another weird article about legislation that the BCNDP is looking at...does this mean we can sue THEM for denying COVID?

“My message is simple: Here in B.C., we expect you to operate in a way that doesn’t hurt people, period.”

The new legislation will allow the government to claim public costs, such as hospital treatments and doctor appointments, as well as preventive and proactive measures for risks of disease, illness or injuries.

A national non-profit group called the Canadian Covid Society launched on Wednesday, with co-founders saying the organization is needed as public health agencies have pulled back on COVID-19 prevention measures and awareness campaigns.

Tomorrow morning, at 5am, it will be two years since we got the call that my mother had passed.

The months before and after were very difficult and complicated.

I am so grateful to be in such a better space now.

vickietorious,

@kristinHenry it's a tough thing to deal with for sure and it takes such a long time. Happy you are feeling better now. ❤️

What have we done? Plastics need to be banned.

Now, a small study in Italy has found shards of microplastics in fatty deposits surgically removed from patients who had an operation to open up their clogged arteries – and reported their health outcomes nearly 3 years later.

My husband has to go for an MRI and he did some research and found these masks that you can order from the US that are NIOSH Approved N95 strapless masks that can be worn in the MRI machine.

I'm a single, older person, living on my own, with a very basic diet. I don't often buy sweets or ice creams as I don't like them. I occasionally treat myself to a packet of Digestive biscuits. I very rarely buy meat or fish. My weekly shop at Coles used to be around $50-55.
Today?
$94.76
Price gouging.

The goal of Make It Safe Vancouver Island is to share best practice in world class health, safety, and performance. Conference sessions are curated to help attendees build resilient and sustainable safety cultures, while addressing the risks Vancouver Island workers face daily.

Wonder if there will be COVID discussion?

vickietorious,

@trendless sad but probably true. My Mom sent me the article from Ontario, I had not seen or heard anything about it, it could be an Onion article.

The stance that our governments have taken to ignore COVID and to convince people its no big deal, people who continue their life like it's no big deal, the lack of mask mandates especially in all health care environments have made it very difficult for my husband and I to get the proper medical care that we need. We let things go that we would normally see a dr or a dentist for to keep ourselves safe from this virus and it makes us feel very unimportant. We are not in this together.

I had a guy cough at me yesterday as I was going into the grocery store because I was wearing a mask, I told him to fuck off and part of me was a little mad that I had given him the satisfaction of reacting but I have to admit, it felt so good to lip him off....I regret nothing!
