    Thomas, the second Black justice, countered that he felt affirmative action made his diploma from Yale Law practically worthless; he has been a fierce opponent of racial preferences in his three decades on the court. “Racial paternalism … can be as poisonous and pernicious as any other form of discrimination,” he has written.

    I just want to say again that it is important that we do not WASTE this opportunity at democratic self-government the Court has by a thin margin allowed us to keep.

    Essentially the Court is saying that they won't ruin democracy by judicial fiat, but the people we elect still absolutely can, if we elect the wrong people.
    I know most of the people who follow me are already voters. But still, VOTE for people who want your votes to count. #SCOTUS
