I’m reading a book called Unstressable. Looks like there’s going to be a fair bit of CBT-ish stuff in there about how we choose to respond to stress, but right now it’s got me thinking about the amount of stress I allow into my life. Without a doubt, Mastodon is a safer space than Twitter, and I am exposed to much less conflict and antagonism here… but I still think I could curate my Masto feed better, maybe mute some hashtags… there a fine balance between being informed about world events and becoming overwhelmed by them

Forgot to post about the manatees we saw in Three Sisters Springs. We even saw a baby manatee! They come in from the Gulf from Dec - Feb because the springs are 72° year round. Absolutely incredible. #manatees

New bird! This is a Harris’s Sparrow! I’ve never seen one before. He’s extremely cute. Looks more like a Cardinal than a sparrow. He didn’t land on my feeder—I’m glad I caught him! 😍 #birds

Last night we checked out Holiday Light and Magic in Bonner Springs. It’s a mile-long drive-thru light display. It was cute! None of these are as awesome as Christmas in the Park at Longview Lake, but they had some really cute lights that made me chuckle. (My pics didn’t turn out because it was dark, raining and we were moving.) #kansascity

My super old and blind cat Rowdy loves to hang out on the second story porch, but he’s become so skinny he can fit through the railings. He has significant balance issues these days, and when he sticks his head and ENTIRE upper body through, I worry that one wrong move and he’d tumble head first to his death. I stopped letting him go
out there because I was so worried. Saw this on Tik Tok, decided to try it. Haven’t stopped cackling since. 🤣 #CatsOfMastodon
