Practically I have now made my instance quite future proof. If I cease to exist today, it just continues on running. The money won’t run out as long as my company keeps the lights on, and it will, like it has been for the past decade. The media storage won’t run out, it’s practically endless on R2 and the prunes are in place. The database is the only ”finite” resource at the moment, but with prunes and depending on usage there will be no issues with the next 30 years after which it will cap the 1TB storage reserved for it. Although it can be easily tenfolded so the db will last for at least 100 years after that.

Overkill for a small instance? Maybe. But I like this sense of false control for the time being. Dying is inevitable. Memento mori.

While I personally stopped tweeting in May, it was clear that now was the time for Flipboard to stop tweeting as well.

This is a sad outcome given that Twitter was the platform we got started on in 2010 and I was a board member there with Jack, Ev and Dick. But that Twitter is gone now. And the future is the open social web.

I think I need to add yet another item to my ever growing to-do list. Learning ASL or American Sign Language.

I have an uncle and aunt who are both deaf. I am in my 30's and have forgotten so much. I am also losing more and more of my hearing. Serving in the military took so much from me and seems to still be taking from me.

Are there any FOSS options for learning ASL or any sort of Sign Language?

@RickiTarr yeah, it doesn't help my mother who has been in her wheelchair all her life, she needs help, like taking her where she needs to go, tons of prescription pills on her hands daily, rest her soul. Dad had to work hard so all of us can survive. Does it justify the costs from programs and benefits to cover it all? What free money?

@thisismissem Oh thank you so much, to think to submit the issue after months of searching, I thought I was the only one with this issue being user-error and have done something wrong on my end. I can see the report was very recent. Will definitely keep an eye on this.
