Highy recommend this walk through the reasoning behind using a Clock.

If you don't care about testing this talk isn't for you. But you DO care about testing. Right? RIGHT?

I'm sorry Slack, you're doing fucking WHAT with user DMs, messages, files, etc? I'm positive I'm not reading this correctly.

sarah,

@Quinnypig @shochdoerfer No, I'm sure you readt that correctly.

I have a model for the world of AI. Imagine the most ridiculous thing possible, then assume the company is doing that thing. It usually pans out.

When designing entities I tend to return value objects, rather than scalar values, from my entities' get* methods.

What about you?

Seven years ago we lost our sweet Jacob to liver disease. Reading was his favorite activity. In his honor we do a book drive to support Georgetown Medical Center’s children’s department. Please contribute a book: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/E57018RQ7JMS?ref_=wl_share

My mantra in software development is "exciting things, boring tech."

Some folks seem to think this means you can never use anything new. That's not true. It just means using battle-tested components that you can rely on.

Every dependency you add to a project means having to maintain that dependency, even if the maintainer goes away.

So make sure you carefully vet what goes in your project, and make it as boring and ordinary as possible.

@dshafik the docs you wrote for Bag are beautiful. How did you render them?

For all the talk about how “small towns are friendlier” it sure does suck that one of my neighbours has a floor fan I bought via Amazon. No point in asking because they don’t really like me due to my non-obsessive behaviour over my lawn. Cutting the lawn once a week is not enough apparently.

Courier says “package handed to resident” but Amazon has refunded me.

sarah,
@sarah@phpc.social avatar

@grmpyprogrammer wait…your neighbor would lie about receiving someone else’s package? Even if they don’t like you they shouldn’t be assholes.

@mwop I'm hearing rumblings in the Logseq community that Logseq has accepted funding and is moving towards databases, rather than working on the Logseq tool. Have you heard similar? Are you still a loyal Logseq user?

sarah,
@sarah@phpc.social avatar

@mwop I agree.

There's a post about the database version from April 29: https://discuss.logseq.com/t/why-the-database-version-and-how-its-going/26744
