I decided to roll the dice, that my CV joint on my car wouldn't blowup, for a run up north out of city lights to see the aurora--& I'm so glad I did! Two shots from northern California: First is from Doyle & the second is from Frenchman Lake. What an amazing display! For a time the aurora covered a 180 degrees from east to west & was overhead & could be seen in the south! I shot these photos with a 15mm f/2.0 30sec ISO400.

In the sky there are stars. On the horizon, just above the low mountain ridge line, is a band of yellow-green. Blue is above that. Then red. Then purple. There are numerous vertical streaks as well.

    Dune-top Drama

    This little sanderling (Calidris alba) was running atop a low sand dune at Holly Beach, Louisiana.

    "The Sanderling’s black legs blur as it runs back and forth on the beach, picking or probing for tiny prey in the wet sand left by receding waves. Sanderlings are medium-sized “peep” sandpipers recognizable by their pale nonbreeding plumage, black legs and bill, and obsessive wave-chasing habits. Learn this species, and you’ll have an aid in sorting out less-common shorebirds. These extreme long-distance migrants breed only on High Arctic tundra, but during the winter they live on most of the sandy beaches of the world." - allaboutbirds.org

    @BeAware that’s so bad… no wonder that’s why so many of them have come and joined us in the FFXIV community lately. I haven’t played WoW since the Mists of Pandaria.

    @BeAware it’s not for everyone. But it’s a really great game and the developers are great and listen to the players and feedback and give us so much of what we ask for in the game. It also has so much other games kind of within the game itself too. So there are different ways of playing the game attracting a wider audience and player base too. The free trial also allows you to play the base game and the first two expansions for free. Over 120 hours of gameplay now free.
