After basically the whole #Microsoft #Azure cloud was hacked (see list of related sources on https://karl-voit.at/cloud/ ), the first follow-up incidents went public caused by missing containment actions:

If you didn't understand until now: basically EVERYTHING at Microsoft got hacked and Microsoft can't (or won't) get rid of the intruders. Everything authenticated by Microsoft is tainted. Even #Windows auth.

@keno3003 Sorry euer #Passkeys-Werbevideo klingt nach Lobbying für Großkonzerne.

Passkeys hat mit dem Wegfallens des Schutz des Secrets im Vergleich zu #FIDO2 eine deutlich geringere Vertrauenswürdigkeit. Passkeys wäre nur dann sicherer, wenn man den Betreibern wie #Apple, #Google, #Microsoft absolut vertraut, dass die mein Secret ordentlich handhaben. Aktuellstes Beispiel ist Microsoft mit dem Verteilen von Generalschlüsseln zur #Cloud. 😔

Normale 2FA ist somit sicherer als Passkeys. #TOTP

This article by #CoryDoctorow from 2010(!) is more valid than ever. Not just related to iPads but for the whole #Apple ecosystem. You rarely own an Apple device whose biggest value it only gets by accessing the walled gardens Apple has total control over.

It's for #consumers and not for people who want to play with their devices in a #creative way!

Today I evaluated #logseq for a couple of hours.

I really have to say that this is a really good tool once you switch from the #markdown default setting to the much better #orgmode syntax. 😉

I'll migrate the #Joplin data from my previous testrun over to logseq and go with that for the moment.

Don't worry, I'll probably never leave my Org setup. It's for another person's management and knowledge base where #Emacs was no option, unfortunately.

Yet another #NixOS fail on my ground:

Had to invest hours of debugging only to find out that in the end, my #Python interpreter can't find the installed zlib of the system. This way, #numpy could not be imported because of that. 😔

Another taske of: "Never ever use NixOS when you plan to execute Python scripts."

I'll need to summarize my issue and nag the community in order to find out the underlying reason. 😜

What's missing in the #NixOS community (from my perspective so far): documentation for the step from one host (relatively well documented) to multiple hosts with different configurations.

There seems to be millions of possible ways to implement that and nothing seems to be documented.

With one test notebook and one VM, I'm already totally lost since this really strange #nixlang (+ #flakes) requires weird magic spells for the simple tasks of defining host-specific includes. 😔

Why is it that I do see #Mastodon messages in my Home Timeline (which is server-side language filtered) that have been posted using a language which is clearly deselected in my #languagefilter preferences?

Does it happen to you as well? For example with my German messages (and you have disabled "German" in your settings)?

If this is a bug, it's been there since years. 😔

Or isn't that filter working for messages/boosts of people I follow? Which would be a pity IMHO.

Good news and bad news for users if #logseq:

They're working on a DB version in parallel that will provide better scalability, performance and realtime #collaboration (#RTC). They'll charge for RTC.

Unfortunately, this seems to be the end for #orgdown markup as they are implementing #Markdown only now and a conversion feature later on. 😞

Therefore, logseq is not an option for me any more and I'll need to think about a migration strategy for my wife.

I need to get a new smartphone since my Pixel 4a ran out of support already. 😞

I narrowed down my options to three devices that fit my requirements.

The Pixel 8a seems to be cheaper and even better compared to the 8.

I won't use games or any of the AI stuff nor Google cloud services. Therefore, I guess that Tensor 4 of the Pixel 9 won't provide much benefit to me.

Unfortunately, the #Pixel 9 design looks great to me. 🤔

What do you recommend? 🤷 (and why?)

I noticed the bug myself already in #NixOS. 😔

In this case, it's good to have still a Debian machine not running the latest versions.

I just tried to use #LibreOffice #Draw to draw some arrows and boxes onto JPEG images for emphasizing stuff.

The UX is really bad for somebody not working with Draw all the time.

Whatever I do, instead of drawing onto the image, the image gets selected instead.

Could not find any layer-sidebar.

Could not scale text without starting the "Character ..." menu, modifying font size blindly + confirming just to see its effect and then start all over.

Dear #FOSS, we really should do better.

If those services could be easily replaced by any Markdown edtor and a decent sync mechanism, why are they using those services in the first place? 🤷
