The next cloud service I'm leaving will be most likely #linkedin.

Besides their horrible UX, it doesn't work in my Firefox any more. Can't send any messages. Can't close message dialoge popups. 🤷

Since it annoys with lots of #spam and did not provide me any benefit at all so far (not a single job opportunity for months! even when I enabled all job search features), it will be an easy good bye for me.

Upgrade experience #NixOS 23.11 ➡️ 24.05 setup from https://github.com/novoid/nixos-config

qemu VM: ran for 6 minutes, no hazzle.

floyd (lenovo x260, 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD): programs.gnupg.agent.pinentryFlavor now works different. Easy to fix.
Update took 2 hours(!) and +20GB data

jackson (lenovo t490, 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD): virt-manager-qt doesn't compile but it never worked anyway, so I removed it. Took 7 minutes and used +18GB data.

So it went more or less fine but you need time + large storage meda for Nix.

Der #Datenschutz behindert uns dort, der Datenschutz macht nur Arbeit, der Datenschutz ist umständlich, ...

Dabei wird vergessen, dass die #DSGVO der #EU unsere persönlichen Daten schützt! 🛡️

Dort, wo der Datenschutz Probleme verursacht, ist vermutlich auch das zugrundeliegende Geschäftsmodell problematisch. ⚠️

Und die korrekte Umsetzung der DSGVO für Firmen ist auch nicht sooo kompliziert.

Der Bau des neuen Stromkabels von #Deutschland über den Ärmelkanal nach England kann auch bedeuten, dass die Produzenten in Norddeutschland es satt haben, auf eine Stromtrassenerweiterung nach #Bayern zu warten, wo man durchaus viel davon abnehmen könnte.

Glaubt nicht diese Behauptung. SMS ist gleich unsicher wie E-Mail - beides unnötige Risiken, da es gute Alterantiven gibt.

Wenn willhaben tatsächlich daran gelegen wäre, unsere Sicherheit zu verbessern, würden sie effektive und sichere Authentifizierungsverfahren wie #FIDO2 unterstützen anstatt Handynummern abzugreifen.

Mal sehen, wann die meine Handynummer durch Hacks/Leaks verlieren ...

I need to get a new smartphone since my Pixel 4a ran out of support already. 😞

I narrowed down my options to three devices that fit my requirements.

The Pixel 8a seems to be cheaper and even better compared to the 8.

I won't use games or any of the AI stuff nor Google cloud services. Therefore, I guess that Tensor 4 of the Pixel 9 won't provide much benefit to me.

Unfortunately, the #Pixel 9 design looks great to me. 🤔

What do you recommend? 🤷 (and why?)
