Out of curiosity, anyone know any good small presses (or bigger presses) that publish queer historical romance (actual historical, like Victorian era)? Starting to feel like I've been rejected by the main players, although told the manuscript shows "great promise" so I'm not quite ready to bin it... But I also don't have the bandwidth to do all the publication-related stuff myself...

A lot of people have trouble with the Midwestern formulations "yeah, no" and "no, yeah," which can seem counterintuitive---

@juliancday I think herding dogs tend to get bored and weird in the absence of sufficient stimulation. Corgis are no exception. Sure, they're short and adorable, but they're for herding cows!

My mother-in-law and her sister (both in their 70s) apparently both want to read my novel. Which is full of gay sex. I asked my husband if they were aware of what it was about and he said, "Well, I told them it was urban fantasy set in Madison in the sixties."

Me: And?

Him: I told them it was a romance.

Ok, should be fine. Uh. Deep breaths. I made peace with my mom wanting to read it. I can get through this too.
