I have upgraded two systems to #Ubuntu 24.04 now and also tried #Thunderbird as snap (which is the default for Ubuntu 24.04) on another machine.

The system upgrades were incredibly smooth. Thunderbird in general also works fine, but it doesn't support #GPG with private keys on a #YubiKey yet (which is my usecase). (Yes,there is a workaround, although clunky.)

So it looks like I'll stay on 23.10 a bit longer on my main machine.

Ich habe eine FRITZ!Box 7590 AX (FRITZ!OS 7.80) und benutze den Festnetzanschluss über die FRITZ!APP Fon auf iOS (aktuelle Version).

Ich habe auf einem iOS-Gerät heute schon zweimal das Problem gehabt, dass die App keine Verbindung zur FRITZ!Box mehr herstellen kann. Das einzige, was hilft, ist: Deinistallieren der App, Installieren der App, Credentials neu eingeben.

Ist das ein bekanntes Problem? Kann man da was machen?

@s_bergmann Bei mir hat in solchen Fällen üblicherweise ein Neustart der Fritzbox geholfen (hilft auch, wenn die DECT-Handgeräte die Fritzbox nicht mehr finden) - oder vorher mal mit dem Smartphone aus dem WLAN raus- und wieder reingehen.

Hallo zusammen!
Ich brauche mal euren Rat und vllt auch eure Connections: Zurzeit arbeite ich in in der QA und bin zusätzlich im Design-Team aktiv, möchte aber nun voll in die UX einsteigen.
Ein wenig zu mir: In meinem Medieninformatik-Studium habe ich meine Thesis über das spannende Thema Dark Patterns geschrieben und eine Zertifizierung als UX-Designerin abgeschlossen.
Kennt ihr offene Stellen in oder habt Tipps für den Wechsel? Wäre super dankbar für jede Hilfe!

Helft mir mal.

Ich überlege, den Bildschirm mit einem VESA-Mount am Schreibtisch zu befestigen, damit das alles nicht mehr so liederlich aussieht.

Ich möchte aber keinen Quatsch kaufen, der nur wackelt und quietscht. Welche Marke bietet ordentliche Qualität und ist trotzdem bezahlbar? Echte eigene Erfahrungen wären natürlich gold.

TIL that one symptom of a almost-but-not-quite-dead Cat 5e #network cable is magically getting the connection downgraded to 10 MBit/s (and causing the connection get dropped altogether for a few seconds every now and then).

What's your take on storing (private) #SSH keys in your password manager (Bitwarden) in addition to including it in the automatic backup of a machine? Does this make sense? Or is this a terrible idea? #security (I'm looking mostly at cases where I might want to rebuild/reinstall a machine from scratch with some automation instead of restoring it from a backup.) #linux

My functional tests grow and grow which is really cool. 🙂 But the same way, the duration to execute them grows and grows. Which is not so cool.

Do you have recommendations, best practices or "dos and don'ts" for #TYPO3 functional tests?

@koehnlein Use high PHP and PHPUnit versions. Disable DB access in testcases if possible. Minimize the DB datasets. Use SQLite instead of MySQL/MariaDB. Parallelize the tests. Use unit tests where a unit test would do. While developing locally, run only one testcase at a time. Disable Xdebug. (And on CI, of course test all relevant databases and major PHP versions as well.)

@wowa_TYPO3 Ich mach auch gerade ein Upgrade (keinen vollständigen Relaunch, weil es so viel Content gibt) von 6.0 auf 11.5. Ist technisch schon etwas abenteuerlich/herausfordernd.

Heute habe ich endlich mal mit phpcs und phpcs 🤡 herumgespielt und selber eingerichtet&konfiguriert.

So richtig klar ist mir immer noch nicht warum es dafür zwei Tools bedarf, und warum beide quasi gleich abgekürzt werden.

phpstan kriege ich ja noch abgegrenzt.

Und möchte/muss ich mich auch noch mit psalm einreiben?

(1/3) @supergarv Also: Psalm und PHPStan machen praktisch dasselbe. Wenn du also das eine Tool benutzt, bringt das andere üblicherweise praktisch keinen zusätzlichen Nutzen (bis auf einige Ausnahmen).

(2/3) @supergarv PHP_CodeSniffer und PHP-CS-Fixer sind beide primär für Codestyle zuständig und haben miteinander viele Überlappungen, sind aber von der Philosophie und Geschichte her grundsätzlich anders: PHP_CodeSniffer checkt (und meckert), und er kann einige (nicht alle!) Dinge fixen, über die er meckert. Dadurch kann das Tool auch Probleme entdecken, die nicht autofixbar sind (z.B. Zeilenlänge oder Naming).

PHP-CS-FIxer fixt Probleme, und man kann ihn auch als Checker benutzen. Allerdings kann er nur Sachen anmeckern, die er auch fixen kann, daher also nicht Dinge wie Zeilenlänge oder Naming.

Abgesehen davon wird PHP-CS-Fixer aktiver entwickelt als PHP_CodeSniffer, und PHP-CS-FIxer unterstützt auch neuere Coding-Standards (PER-2 als WIP) verglichen mit PHP-CS-FIxer.

Meiner Erfahrung nach reicht eins der beiden Tools (mit TYPO3 eher PHP-CS-Fixer).
