I feel like a lot of app development - on iOS especially - has either slowed or halted, but happy to be proven wrong. 😅

Oh man, this news story. Former MLA from Manitoba asks Meta's own "ask AI" chatbot if a phone number he found on Google is really Meta support. It tells him yes. @misty @Gargron Oh no. Every tech company needs to make very clear that LLMs don’t “know” anything. If they happen to get something correct, it’s just lucky. 🍀

But unfortunately most AI products are being pitched as alternatives to search engines + doing your own due diligence, and they’re simply not that. 🥲

My gym had an entry system where you tap the membership card on the door to enter. You can also tap the same membership card on the locker to lock/unlock it. Simple.

But in an attempt to “modernise” the gym entry system, you need an app on your phone which shows a code to scan.

Now I need a charged phone to get in and out, and internet, and their app. And because you don't use a card to get in, they replaced all the lockers, which means you need to go buy and bring a padlock with you.

I mean, if you ask me (and they didn’t) having one card to access a door and access a locker in the same building sounded like a lot simpler and more modern solution.

@dustin @tehstu I genuinely didn't go to the gym once because I looked at my phone and it had just a few percent left on the battery and I didn't want to get to the gym only to find I was locked in/out.

And I haven't bought a padlock for the lockers, part in protest and part laziness, so just throw my stuff in an empty locker and don't lock it and hope nobody steals it now.

One of the most worrying things about having #covid (which I think I have right now) is cooking.

I can't smell anything and can barely taste anything at the minute, so... is the feta cheese that I am putting in the pasta and pesto dish that I have cooked okay?

It could smell rancid for all I know and I'm just quite happily spooning it to top my meal.

Sometimes when you #search the web you want to make sure your results are from some clever people.

That's why I made a #Mojeek Search Focus that will only return results from #university websites and #encyclopedia.

You can try it by going to the Mojeek Focus Dashboard and turning the feature on.

Basically, even with the link you provided in the toot above, there is no way for me to see the Focus filter or that I am seeing filtered search results.

Focus is off as default, which means even the option in the main tab menu is non-existent.

Do you know what i mean?

Maybe "Focus" should always be in the nav bar, but if its disabled, take you to https://www.mojeek.com/focus/dashboard when you press it.
