I finally caved in an purchased a subscription to #Nebula and now have started binge-watching Season 3 of #JetLag where they play 'tag' across Europe 🇪🇺
This is not the content I signed up for, but as a fan of #RaceAcrossTheWorld, then it sure is appealing to me.
@JPEGuin If you’re making all the bottom menu items customisable then I’d like all the menu items from the top to be in there.
For example; I use the local timeline a lot and would like to pin it to the main menu rather than have to use the dropdown at the top (awkward to reach with one hand) to switch to it.
I’d like a client that when you open your options are Register + “I already have an account” and if you hit Register then it detects your location and recommends you a server from a location based server list. Then the rest.
Like, someone in the UK could see mastodon.uk, toot.wales, mastodon.scotland first.
Someone in Norway will see snabelen.no, oslo.town, and babb.no first, for example.
Guess what suddenly covers like half the view from our offices on the left side! 😎
Also, thoughts and prayers to my dear colleague running the graveyard shift while staring out those Windows... May your eeeyes not feeeel too heavyyy aaall niiiight! 😅
I know I've mentioned this before, but one of my favorite features on the Mac that has no equivalent on an iPhone or iPad is adding new words to the system-wide spelling dictionary. The feature dates back to Mac OS X 10.0 and I'm pretty sure was in NeXTStep a decade before that.
And, even better, the custom words you add to the dictionary are stored in a simple text file, one word per line, at:
@ChrisZikopoulos@gruber interesting work around 🙂 you can also go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement and add words there.
It’s more for converting ‘lol’ to ‘Lots of love’ but will also work for just doubling up on the same word and therefore mimic ‘adding it to the dictionary’.
@ChrisZikopoulos@gruber I discovered this because apparently Apple keyboards think that it’s okay to write ‘USA’ for ‘United States of America’ but not ‘UK’ for ‘United Kingdom’ — it always corrected it to ‘U.K.’ which bugged me so much that I forced the override in the Text Replacement settings.
@jantzen@Lazarou there’s rumours that this is staged and ‘Vicky’ is Emily Hewertson, girlfriend of Reform Party press officer. I don’t know 🤷 wouldn’t surprise me if it was staged. But probably not the same girl - why would they use someone so close to the party. 😅 #Farage
I don’t know how else to describe this, but parts of downtown St. Louis smell distinctly like a used bookstore. Like a room stuffed full of musty aging books and yellowing magazines.
