I finally caved in an purchased a subscription to and now have started binge-watching Season 3 of where they play 'tag' across Europe 🇪🇺

This is not the content I signed up for, but as a fan of , then it sure is appealing to me.

As a side note; I can't find or on , so if anyone knows if they have an account, link me up!

Now that the UK has announced a Genital Election, I'm really looking forward to all the political content coming our way.

This isn't even sarcasm. I love a UK election.

I'm excited to announce that I've started work on a new Mastodon app, and I'm calling it 'Friendzone'. 🚨

  • Easier to use
  • Better in every way
  • Blazing fast
  • Smarter

It's in very early stages, but ready to beta test today: https://testflight.apple.com/join/DxBfo8du

@JPEGuin If you’re making all the bottom menu items customisable then I’d like all the menu items from the top to be in there.

For example; I use the local timeline a lot and would like to pin it to the main menu rather than have to use the dropdown at the top (awkward to reach with one hand) to switch to it.

@JPEGuin Also, registration process:

I’d like a client that when you open your options are Register + “I already have an account” and if you hit Register then it detects your location and recommends you a server from a location based server list. Then the rest.

Like, someone in the UK could see mastodon.uk, toot.wales, mastodon.scotland first.

Someone in Norway will see snabelen.no, oslo.town, and babb.no first, for example.

I don't use often but do have an account there. You sign in to the homepage feed. The main navigation down the left is:

  1. Your Profile
  2. Friends
  3. Memories
  4. Saved
  5. Groups
    etc. etc.

What do you expect to see when you click #2, "Friends"?

matt,
@matt@oslo.town avatar

Well, if you answered "People on Facebook who are not yet your friend but Facebook thinks you want to add as a friend" then you would be correct.

🤦

@annika No worries - who doesn't love one of life's good tangents? Especially if it involves hunting down physically distant estranged family members.

I know I've mentioned this before, but one of my favorite features on the Mac that has no equivalent on an iPhone or iPad is adding new words to the system-wide spelling dictionary. The feature dates back to Mac OS X 10.0 and I'm pretty sure was in NeXTStep a decade before that.

And, even better, the custom words you add to the dictionary are stored in a simple text file, one word per line, at:

~/Library/Group Containers/group.com.apple.AppleSpell/Library/Spelling/LocalDictionary

@matt@oslo.town avatar

@ChrisZikopoulos @gruber interesting work around 🙂 you can also go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement and add words there.

It’s more for converting ‘lol’ to ‘Lots of love’ but will also work for just doubling up on the same word and therefore mimic ‘adding it to the dictionary’.

matt,
@matt@oslo.town avatar

@ChrisZikopoulos @gruber I discovered this because apparently Apple keyboards think that it’s okay to write ‘USA’ for ‘United States of America’ but not ‘UK’ for ‘United Kingdom’ — it always corrected it to ‘U.K.’ which bugged me so much that I forced the override in the Text Replacement settings.

@jantzen @Lazarou there’s rumours that this is staged and ‘Vicky’ is Emily Hewertson, girlfriend of Reform Party press officer. I don’t know 🤷 wouldn’t surprise me if it was staged. But probably not the same girl - why would they use someone so close to the party. 😅

Emily Hewertson‘s profile picture on Twitter. Looks similar to the girl who threw the milkshake.

I don’t know how else to describe this, but parts of downtown St. Louis smell distinctly like a used bookstore. Like a room stuffed full of musty aging books and yellowing magazines.

@andybaio I feel like you’re about to stumble onto something. Keep exploring. 🕵️‍♂️
