I commute to work daily by bike (yes, even in the winter). I don't ride to go fast. I ride to live slowly.

My other self-propelled hobbies include hiking, backpacking and canoeing, which I like to mix with radio.

Today's commute was one of those "why did all y'all risk life and limb to pass me on a blind curve when we're all gonna get stuck together at the same red light 10 seconds later" kind of commutes.

@DrTCombs My favorite thing to do to people like that is to ring my bell (ring ring) and wave every time I catch up to them at the next light. It's like twisting the knife to them.

Fedi-brain-hive, I need you once again.

Is there an #English #word that means "to make permanent?" Essentially, I need the word "permanentize" to exist, but evidently it does not. Surely another word exists in its stead?

Please #help! This problem has been vexing me for over three years (since I began tracking the way cities changed their street space during the pandemic and whether or not those changes were permanentized).

I'm so tired of writing "were made permanent."

Anyone who continues to argue that #COVID19 is no big deal really ought to have a conversation with my knees. But you'll have to wait until they come from under the ice bags they required after a 10 minute dog walk this morning.

#LongCOVID takes many different forms. Which one would you choose for yourself? Personally I do not recommend chronic joint inflammation, but YMMV.

It just dawned on me that I think all of the terrible white trash (American, racist, homophobic, and/or asshole) humans I’ve heard or interacted with on air have been in the extra portion of the HF #HamRadio bands. How about you?

There are plenty of losers all over the band plan (Exhibit A: 7.200 MHz). But yeah, a lot of the time they are down in the extra segments and also more numerous on the lower HF bands.

Those people are not only a disgrace to the amateur radio community, but also to our nation and humanity in general.

When Ballard's team found the Titanic, they kept the location a secret out of concern that treasure hunters and tourists would violate the grave site.

When I heard of this incident, the first thing I thought of was there are some Titanic ghosts that dislike tourist subs as much as we dislike drones flying above us at tourist destinations.

My commute is 12.5 miles (20 km) one way. It's completely doable on a traditional bike, but with the e-bike, I don't feel like I need a nap when I get to work. Some days, I don't even need to shower. Total game changer for commuting.

I still love my "acoustic," but I have to be honest, after you get used to electric-assist, riding a traditional bike feels like every ride is uphill and the brakes are stuck. "Why am I going so slow?" LOL

Makes perfect sense given Elongated Muskrat's business prowess. Advertisers pay for eyeballs on ads. What better way to further tank the value of your service than to reduce eyeballs. This reeks desperate bluff to get disengaged users back to visiting their feeds. If he purges millions of "inactive" accounts, Twitter is done.
