Trump's plan to report 15-20 million people will require the creation of a massive bureaucracy, which, once created, will do whatever it has to do to continue it's perpetual existence. If it ever finally "solves" the "problem" of "illegal" immigrants living in the US, it'll find another target.

Held: Congress’ statutory authorization allowing the Bureau to draw money from the earnings of the Federal Reserve System to carry out the Bureau’s duties satisfies the Appropriations Clause. Pp. 5–19, 22.
(a) Under the Appropriations Clause, an appropriation is a law that authorizes expenditures from a specified source of public money for designated purposes.
(1) The Bureau’s funding is “drawn from the Treasury” and is therefore subject to the requirements of the Appropriations Clause.

jsjoshua,
@jsjoshua@esq.social avatar

The issue is whether the Bureau’s funding mechanism constitutes an “Appropriatio[n] made by Law.” The Court concludes that the answer is yes based on the Constitution’s text, the history against which that text was enacted, and congressional practice immediately following
ratification. Pp. 5–15.

This website says you should send it a photo of your partner's penis and they will tell you if they have an STD, using the power of AI.

This is so misleading, inaccurate, dangerous, YIKES, that I assume it is an elaborate joke.

@gulovsen @evacide I spent time yesterday reviewing the privacy policies of various Internet-connected oven manufacturers because the circuits board of our 20+ year old oven died and they don't make replacements anymore and none of the electronics repair shops that is called were willing to try to fix it. The privacy policies are very well written and quite clear that they're going to use consumers' information however they want. 1/2

If NY seizes and sells TFGs properties, they'll have to rigorously vet potential buyers to keep out influence buyers, because every dollar they get from the sale reduces Trump's remaining debt. It's not much different than giving TFG cash.

"CAP includes all official, book-published state and federal United States case law — every volume or case designated as an official report of decisions by a court within the United States.

Our scope includes all state courts, federal courts, and territorial courts for American Samoa, Dakota Territory, Guam, Native American Courts, Navajo Nation, and the Northern Mariana Islands.”

The correction at the end is also fun: "A correction was made on January 30, 2024: An earlier version of this article misstated the name of a department store. It is Saks Fifth Avenue, not Sax."

Fun fact: a national bank's ability to ignore state usury laws is based on the National Bank Act. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has issued regulations extending the definition of "interest" to include fees, such a overlimit fees. If Chevron deference goes away, all of the court decisions allowing banks to charge those fees, which are based on the OCC's interpretations, can be reopened. Fun times for litigators.

jsjoshua,
@jsjoshua@esq.social avatar

@luis_in_brief Yeah, seriously. Apparently stability and predictability doesn't interest corporate America as much as the ability to run roughshod over the law because they have deep pockets.
