I work in a used books shop and read mostly Science fiction and fantasy, but not exclusively.
I game a bit, but wouldn't call myself a gamer. My favourite game over the past several years is #TheLongDark

Interested, but not very knowledgeable about Walkability, 15 min city, rewilding.

I have some issues with physical pain as well as social anxiety.

So I'm heading into the Big City tomorrow to visit a SF book store (and to buy licorice). I know some of the things I'll be looking for (Martha Wells, Ann Leckie) but I'll also pick up some #Manga such as Spy X family and How do we relationship?.
I like slice-of-life, a nice believable love story but not really into action shonen stuff.
Suggestions welcome 😁
Manga I like include Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, Planetes, Yotsuba&, BL Metamorphosis, Touring the Apocalypse

@Editrix_Rachel @bookstodon I picked up Legends and lattes earlier this year and loved it, so very good suggestion. I've read a few volumes of Wotakoi, but couldn't really get into it. I really wanted to like it more than I did.

@alternativenation a friend of mine introduced me to #Portishead when they were still active, and it was very different to music either of us usually listened to at that time. I still really like them.

I still associate the song Wandering Star with the science fiction show Babylon 5 😄
My mind just made a connection there somehow and now I'm stuck with it.

@ren Absolutely. Portishead was the only Triphop band I listened to until relatively recently, but they have led me on to #MazzyStar and #MassiveAttack.
What I usually listened to was classics like #BobDylan, #SimonAndGarfunkel, #TheBand etc. Also lots and lots of #REM and #ToriAmos (who made me discover #KateBush)

But hey, I love #JohannSebastianBach and #Allegri too. 😁

I just finished the first volume of How do we relationship? It's a sweet, but far from saccharine, love story about two college girls in Tokyo trying to figure out how to be together. Definitely tending towards a realistic portrayal rather than something idealised.
Great art, believable characters and an interesting premise in that the whole series basically starts with them already dating.

Highly recommended.

@joel @Acilius oh, I buy them. Either digital and read them on my Kobo, or physical books. Occasionally I check things out first on-line.
I don't read a vast amount of manga, and often have a pretty good idea of what I'm getting.

@Acilius @joel I live in Sweden, and Amazon doesn't dominate the same way it does in the States (assuming that's where you're from). I don't like lock-in, walled gardens etc so #Kobo works fine for me. I've had several and been very happy with them.

A guide to some Fediverse terms:

Toot = Post (named after the Mastodon mascot, in theory)

Favourite = Like (there's a separate Bookmark function if you really want to keep track of posts)

Boost = Re-Tweet, shares a post with your followers

Instance = Server = The site you signed up on, each server is independent

Birdsite = Hellsite = Twitter

Fediverse = This place you're on right now, reading this. Mastodon is one kind of server on here, but there are many other types.

@bookstodon I've worked in a used books store for over ten years, over time my visits to the local library have dropped to zero. I used to go often, but between buying online and picking up stuff at work I didn't really keep that up.
So I decided to renew my library card and spent a while just browsing the unfamiliar shelves. I'd almost forgotten how much fun that is, just going from a-z (or a-ö, in my case). I picked up two novels by Japanese authors I hadn't read before
