Reminder that the city of likes to unilaterally decide when summer starts and ends. Has Britannia Beach been packed for weeks already? Did a 9-yr old just die? Yes. Will this change the cityā€™s approach to funding how the city operates in an era where itā€™s much warmer for longer? No probably not. The speakers mentioning no lifeguards are on duty are like speed signs. Meh, thatā€™s enough

Biked by Britannia Beach today with 2 fire trucks, 5 cop cars and 3 paramedic vehicles all lights and sirens blaring. Apparently a neighbourhood kid is in critical condition after presumably being found unresponsive in the water. Fuck I hate this. Itā€™s so common and yet so easy to avoid and Iā€™ll stake my claim that the beach is one area where phones should just be banned. It takes no time for shit like this to happen with aspirated water in the lungs

This isnā€™t a shit on other parents / holier than thou from me. Iā€™ve sat at the beach. Iā€™ve watched others for a long time at the beach. And Iā€™ve used my phone while sitting at the beach, though our kid doesnā€™t swim there. 30 secs isnā€™t that long. Whatā€™s 45 seconds right? Itā€™s like driving and using a cellphone. Iā€™ve done it and now I donā€™t. Ever. Driving or at a beach with the kid. Shit happens so fast #ottawa #kids #drowning

Update: a 9-yr old kid was pronounced deceased at hospital from Britannia Beach. Ahhhhhhhh fuck. This country needs a national education system that isnā€™t cops scolding people about not boating drunk. Maybe Kevin Oā€™Leary should be the face of it. Oh wait, heā€™d make his wife take responsibility for it again

Nothing radicalized me more than living without a car. I firmly believe itā€™s a literal and metaphorical vehicle for the future. It opens you up to your community. It can make you feel joy when there are many days right now where itā€™s conflicting to feel joy.

I think more people should become radicalized. Life is a lot different, a lot better, change is scary and every fucking minute of it is worth it #ottawa #ottbike #biketooter #worldbikeday

Some closed NCC pathways on the south east side of Bells Corners on a morning just trying to make new connections west of us and south of us.

From Bells Corners and the Trans Canada Trail going east, Iā€™ve never spent much time. All the roads down there scare me to be honest. I just dont trust people and not knowing where decent shoulders are makes the exploration slow. Yes Google street view etc but my capacity for planning only goes so far šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

PSA: (and a question). and pulled two ticks off the kid after a hike in Gatineau park. And you NEED to check all of the little ones, especially parts of genitalia you canā€™t just visibly check. Both of these dots are ticks but unsure what kind. Does anyone know if there is a drop off location to get these tested? Lymes disease is shit and the risk increases a LOT after 24-36 hrs attached

Curious where the marketing / storytelling potential is for companies who do NOT use the various forms of AI, especially given the myriad of issues (water & resources, excuses to cut staff, further enshitification of customer service) etc etc. I bet some smart folks could really do good storytelling around this on brand recognition etc
