@analogfusion @sirber That's a clever hack! My laptop is the only machine I have that supports Win11. I'm a little salty my 5 1/2 year old gaming PC doesn't make the cut.

It's a Gen7 i7 with 32GB of RAM, I have no need to upgrade.

oh man, someone should make a federated revival of Path. that is what i wish social media turned into. apps where the goal is to support small circles of friends, or make small circles of friends. not this 'global town square' stuff.

@msprout @chris_hayes They tried to solve social media’s biggest problem: It doesn’t scale. Once you are following >100 users, it basically overwhelms you.

If you had installed the Twitch.TV app years ago you would still have access to it. So, step 1, get a Time Machine. 😎

I think the only way now is to use Chromecast or Airplay, depending on what tech you use.

Will this be Mastodon's VHS or Betamax moment?

I haven't tested Bluesky but I can say that if Mastodon wants to stay competitive (and I hope it does), it needs to address SEARCH & SURFACING fast.

The first open-protocol network that enables news and fast breaking events to surface easily and with functional search will win the market. You'll see journos, sports, etc. migrate to the platform that gives them that visibility.

There is a window of opportunity here but it doesn't stay open long.
