What's up with #education projects wasting their grant money on #apps ? I've met yet another educator, who against any advice decided to put a lot of the budget on a shitty unusable app with no UX or tests.

Is it a grant requirement?

Do people believe that apps will make their projects more attractive?

@miklo prawdę mówiąc argumentacja w tym artykule nie przekonuje mnie. Nie wierzę że sygnalizowane problemów we własnej organizacji wewnątrz tej organizacji będzie skuteczne. Tylko przekazanie informacji na zewnątrz uniemożliwia "zamiatania spraw pod dywan". Jeżeli RPO nie miał zasobów żeby sobie z tym radzić to trzeba było te zasoby przydzielić.

@jernej__s @ar I had seen something similar (long time ago so no screenshots tho) when I used a laptop with a flakey wlan card. On windows it would occasionally just bluescreen, Linux driver would just print some errors in dmesg, clunk clunk, reset the card and keep on working 😜​

    Nowy system biletowy w Warszawie ma być wygodny i nowoczesny, ale podróżowanie stanie się mniej anonimowe: z odbijaniem karty przy wejściu/wyjściu z pojazdu i bez możliwości płacenia gotówką. To nam się nie podoba, ale póki nie wiemy, jaki problem ZTM chce w ten sposób rozwiązać, trudno nam kategorycznie potępić ten pomysł (chociaż kusi!). Zapytaliśmy więc o szczegóły:

    Once libraries are nonexistent any modern fascist movement wouldn't even have to burn books, but flick one switch and they'd be remotely deleted from your Amazon Kindle or similar digital “library”.

    Capitalists are already building the infrastructure to do this through DRM, so stop believing tech is apolitical - the defunding of libraries and paywalling of information are all part of this. :trantifa:

    ADSL works over wet string? Now, what about "ADSL over a UNPLUGGED phone line"? During a building-wide copper to fiber upgrade, the phone company stupidly unplugged my phone line from the distribution box. the phone was completely dead, no voltage. But my ADSL modem could complete the handshake. Speed degraded to ~128 Kbps, but I could still read basic webpages or chat on IRC... Apparently the parasitic capacitance on the line was enough for the AC signal to jump across the gap. My best guess was that only the ground wire was lost, and the parasitic capacitance of the modem's isolation transformer could complete the circuit via the mains powerline.
