One of our consulting customers is looking to fill an SRE opening. Technologies are AWS, MySQL (Aurora), Groovy, Cold Fusion (legacy codebase), and integrations with vendors like payment processors, video conf, etc.

I got a totally unexpected gift in the mail from @trevorflowers in the form of one of their adorably tiny VT100 models. I put it with my CM-2, PiDP-11, and The Dude. To say it is dwarfed is an understatement.

Shopping for memory foam mattress toppers is an exercise in sorting through dozens of products that appear to be almost exactly the same, and each one has reviews saying it's way too hard and uncomfortable right alongside reviews saying it's way too soft and you sink into it too much.

@MLE_online We trod that path many years ago trying to fix our shitty mattress. It took wasting a bunch of money on things that didn’t fix the problem to realize we just needed a decent mattress. It was spendy, but the sterns and foster was so much better and lasted 12 or so years until we got a new one a couple of years ago.

Seems that under some Amazon influence, the ST board is aiming to go against their own staff recommendations for the CID station location. Apparently, Amazon is concerned about their drivers being slowed down by construction. Screw that!

I was so happy to try the IRS's new direct file pilot program, and it seemed such a breeze to use.

But now I'm done and it's rejecting my filing because it says my adjusted gross income from last year (which it uses for verification) is incorrect.

The stupid thing pulls the AGI from its own database! It's not incorrect!

Someone (presumably "Sandy" as that's how they're signed on the back) in my neighborhood paints these stones and puts them out in people's gardens along the sidewalk. I'm always overjoyed when I find a new one.

Thank you, Sandy, for putting these little pieces of art into the world for folks like me to enjoy while we stare at the ground on our dog walks.

This one appeared, unsurprisingly, around Valentine's day. It is a vaguely heart-shaped rock painted with a red background. White hearts have been painted in the center with lace-like accents around the edge.
