Oh wow... This is something special! I found an early pre-release version of "Castle of the Winds" .. v0.5.4. This was apparently released exclusively for Microsoft employees back in the day.

I think it's an awesome collector's piece! My gratitude goes to "iamxray" for his generous upload.

Here's where I found it:

Incube8 Games has finally released legit digital editions of Greenboy Games' famous Game Boy titles. Took them long enough...

Messing around a bit with .DMS image files using AmigaOS 3.2 and DMS v1.11.

Yeah, I guess I could simply use .ADF files like everyone else, but I think it's a lot more fun to use depricated, oldschool tools. 😉

I just received the physical edition of Rogue Declan, a modern dungeon crawler for Commodore Amiga. My first brand-new Amiga game in over 30 years!

It‘s only the budget edition, but it still looks super beautiful! Totally worth the wait!

Thanks @nivrig for all your work and care!

Back in the day, game developers needed to explain and justify each and every file that came with a game. The user was respected as the local system administrator and owner of the computer.

If you're a fan of the original "Super Mario Allstars" for the SNES, you should also know about its famous "brick bug", which is actually super annoying once you realize it's there. Luckily, there's a simple fix!

Here's a good explanation:

Just to add a a little controversy: While trying to decide which version is my personal favourite, I just went through the different variants of "Super Mario Bros. 3".

Oh, well... there's the original NES version and there's the SNES "Allstars" remake. The NES graphic looks super clean and the SNES remaster is just beautiful! Both are perfect in their own way!

But there's also this creepy thing they put on the GBA.... I never understood why Mario needed a voice actor! That weird egg-throwing dinosaur somehow is also talking now. Adding the annoying screen crunch to fit the GBA's screen... this will never be as good as the originals!

Super Mario Bros. 3 on the SNES. A beautiful masterpiece!

I just had to test this combination: An original Japanese cartridge of „Super Mario Land“ running natively on the Japanese „Super Game Boy“ with Analogue‘s „Super Nt“ set to 60Hz NTSC. Image is set to sqare pixels and upscaled to 4K on a 55inch OLED screen. 1989-2024… perfection!

I just received this from eBay USA: "SimCity Classic - Deluxe Edition for Windows". Pretty much the definitive version of SimCity Classic. The Deluxe Edition will install both the official SimCity graphic packs and the Terrain Editor.

Have fun!

A few days ago, Knights of Bytes finally released "Sam's Journey" for the NES. Yesterday, I purchased the digital download and just put the NTSC ROM through its paces for maybe 20 minutes of gameplay.

Sam's Journey's a super beautiful game and it plays very well on my Nt Mini Noir! So far, highly recommended!

I just added the original tech demo of "MicroMan" to my retro collection. I was always a fan of the finished game "The Adventures of MicroMan", but this one started it all, back in the day.

Shoutout to "Brian L. Goble", if he's still around somewhere! ;-)

I already dumped several good disk images and everything seems to be working perfectly!

Last night, I discovered two quirky, little "Jump'n'Run" games from the early 1990s:

"Secret Agent" and "Crystal Caves" from Apogee (later known as 3DRealms). I never played these back in the day, but they seem to be fun games, so I added them to my retro library. Simple, but pleasant EGA graphics!

Btw: I also just purchased both of them on GOG.com... as classic and modern "HD" versions.

A few days ago, Telev78 very generously shared his new scan of the official "Monkey Island 2 Hint Book" with the community. I am a huge fan of the classic LucasArts adventure, so - of course - I was excited!

It was glorious, but I felt his original upload could benefit greatly from a little bit of digital restoration. With Telev78's permission, I used macOS and Pixelmator Pro to clean and repair all of the Hint Books's 72 pages.

Here's the end result:
