It's really incredible (and I mean very predictable, but still nice to see) how the economic sanctions against #Putin are showing up as #GOP funding problems at every level. The #NRA, state parties, etc.

If we can just freeze out the #fascists for a few years, we might recover and even gain ground.

#mastodon can #filter keywords and #mute users but how do I filter keywords from a particular user?

Like lets say I love card games and don't want to filter "card" out. But one particular person I follow talks about their business card collection too much. How can I filter "'card' but only in posts from @businesscardfan"?

#kdtree and ball trees seem cool, but require full knowledge of the thing I'm searching for. What if it's 7 dimensional and I only know 4 of the values?

I feel like a "parallel kd tree" with a separate binary index on each dimension would work better here.

Reduce depth. Allow unspecified values. It'd also be a snap to create and search each dim in parallel.

This must already exist...

We got a new-to-us #cat on Thursday afternoon.

Thurs aft: It was under the bed
Fri noon: Under the couch
Fri evening: Spotted briefly coming out from under the couch

It is now Saturday evening and we haven't seen the cat in almost 24h. It's a big house with LOTS of places to hide.

Negligible chance it's gotten out. The other 3 #cats seemed to trigger on it a couple times but we still couldn't find it.

I just hope it isn't stuck somewhere...

18yo started learning #guitar a couple weeks ago and doesn't object to being guitar buddies! I've never played with anyone!

Also 16yo is in chorus and was willing to sing the gospel song the class has been practicing!

So we just had a 3 member family #music #band

We sound awful! But we had fun! And I think maybe intrigued the 23yo...

Make my own #guitar lead sheet(s) instead of the stupid chord sheets/tabs available everywhere.

#MuseScore seems really great for this.

The only problem is that while I know about #music than a chord sheet assumes I know less than I probably need to, for instance, line the lyrics up with the beat.

But it's all a #learning process! It's OK to be terrible! Everyone starts somewhere! (he snarled through gritted teeth)

Almost all crunchy plant-based food is based on rigid, fluid-filled cells. Celery. Apple. Lettuce.

Almost all crunchy human-made food is based on brittleness. Chips. Crackers.

My fellow #food madscientists, I propose a new field of satisfyingly crisp food built on the principle of the plant cell. A taut, bursty, fluid-packed membrane.

We made gushers, but we can go farther, reach higher, chew louder.

Having a heck of a time figuring out what #guitar chord #GregDavies is playing here. The intro is G Em Am D. "although she will concede" looks like a C. "the cold rather gets to her knees" is ???

Ultimate Guitar thinks the C is Am (by ear maybe, by eye no way) but worse thinks the unknown chord is a D7. That's definitely wrong both by ear and eye.

I paid for a subscription. And they are now effectively blocking , at least on . Every fetch requires me to "verify I'm a human" so none of the images or load. It works in (for now...?)

Was it stupidity, denial or just obtuseness that made me not recognize for 50 years? Not even an "oh, it's that feeling again where I'll do anything I can to avoid this simple 5m task, maybe listening to music will help".

Or . Prooooobably most people aren't assuming that everyone not currently actively praising them is deeply angry at them for unspecified reasons.

Anyway, talk to your doctor and try some medication. It's pretty great.

Got yet another #meeting request that ignored my #outlook calendar but listed me as "required".

This time I declined and "proposed a new time". Politely but tersely noted if I was truly required I wouldn't be available at that time but that "my calendar is up to date".

My proposed new time is in a slot their calendar says busy. Huh!

Googling this gives me solutions for putting it on all desktops. I want to pin it to a single desktop.

I was doing some extremely basic this weekend. Just going through pipe bomber info released by the

One task I set myself was to find the camera each video/photo was taken from. I found them all except this famous shot:

Reverse angle shows that the lightpole has to be the camera. Those exist nowadays, but except for a paintjob this light has been here since at least 2007.

First stab was via the scooter in the DNC video that the walks right next to. In 2021, there were only a few companies providing scooters and this one looks a lot like one of them that has a known height. I got 5'9"

Second stab was from a video the didn't post but did in early reporting. Bomber walks close to a car of known height. I got 5'9" again

It's worth noting that as much as I don't like her, popular suspect is easily in the clear. She is 5'3".
