I see the Happy Thatcher is dead Day posts and I must say they don't make me happy.

Don't get me wrong, I celebrated with the rest of the sane world when she died. But now I would prefer her to be an unmentionable so those of us who lived through her evil times don't have to think of them again

Met this little guy last week by the Emu River near Burnie.

This is a Tasmanian Pademelon, a small marsupial which can now only be found here in Tasmania. There are other Pademelons in Australia and this species used to be on the mainland until humans decided to destroy them there.

This particular fella was probably young, because it was even small for a Pademelon.

Yes, roadkill is terrible, but on the mainland Pademelons were destroyed by the introduction of predatory foxes and huge land clearance. The same land mismanagement that is seeing the possibility of the extinction of Koala in the near future. At least the population of Pademelons is stable here.

The Evan's Gambit doesn't appear at Candidates level chess that much. In fact, it doesn't occur that much in top level chess since the late 1800's.

I've not faced it for about 30 years but my repertoire is on the board 🙂

My wife and I needed to get a marriage certificate. We were married in Coventry, UK, 30 years ago and now live in Tasmania, Australia. We applied to UK for this and they sent it out weeks ago saying it could take up to 3 months to arrive.

Today we got it. The return address is in northern England, but the postage was from Sweden!!

WTF!!!

@monissa yes Swedish. It took 3-4 weeks to be dispatched from UK to Sweden, and another 1-2 weeks to get here.

Took a trip to Burnie on the north coast of Tasmania. There's a beautiful spot on the Emu River called Fern Glade Reserve, a good place for platypus spotting. Didn't see any today, but the track and river were beautiful.
