Well. Built a prototype and found a bunch of ways it didn't fit as designed so time for some design revisions. Question at this point is whether I commit to a final build or do a second prototype.
Also, been playing with #homeassistant and deploying a zigbee mesh of things that really have no legitimate reason to be networked. So far it's worked pretty well! I kinda went big and bought a bunch of Inovelli Blue switches which happen to function as full Zigbee routers so about the only leafs on the mesh are a couple edge sensors / actuators, and connectivity is good throughout the house 'cause there's a router in nearly each room
Well I pulled the trigger and upgraded from green power tools to red and while my wallet isn't particularly pleased even with "black friday" pricing I'm pretty stoked. All this kit feels like a meaningful net upgrade.
Also finally ditched the green battery operated miter saw for a sliding 10in saw. Time to make more shit. #theshop#woodworking
So I've mostly been using #Ryobi tools and they've been OK but obviously light duty. Couple have handles that are already wearing out and I've killed a couple batteries.
I've got one buddy who went red (#Milwaukee), one who went yellow (#DeWalt) and one who went blue (#Makita). Of course.
I'm inclined to go yellow or red - they seem to be about on par and the Packout system seems like the clear winner of everything.
Argh. Do I buy the PrusaXL or not. If I do I'm gonna get the 5-head model because go big or go home but I also absolutely do not need to spend a large chunk of cash this way. It'd be rad to be able to do multi-color (I'd want 4) printing for things but ... pricing is pretty silly. #3dprinting#theshop
@technoshaman001 I've already got 2x CR-10v3s so I'm not actually gaining much on print volume. I'm paying 10x more for one machine to get the 5 ends. Sounds silly out loud.
@technoshaman001 Cancelled the order. I'll give it 12mo for Prusa to sort the kinks out. In the meantime I don't need the machine and could buy a lot of other tools for the price of a fully loaded 5-head.
The year is 2023 and the only halfway reasonable way to bulk copy files from my Android phone to a Linux desktop is over NFS via the NAS. Shitty future.
