Read yesterday that Malaysia's the leading country globally in terms of e-wallet/cashless transaction adoption with over 63% of Malaysians using them over cash. This does not surprise me honestly since I myself have not used cash (in Malaysia) 99% of the time for years now, and have not used any of my cards (physically) 90% of the time since 2 years ago when #ApplePay was made available here.

Almost everyone around me too are the same, preferring any of the available #NFC payment methods like #GooglePay and #SamsungPay (which have been around for many years longer here than Apple Pay) when available, or fallback to #DuitNow (QR Pay) through any of the available #eWallet apps like #TNGeWallet or just about any of the first-party #bank apps like #MAE for #Maybank users or #CIMBClicks for #CIMB users.

Almost all shops from your local market and roadside stalls to restaurants or any stores in a shopping mall would at least support QR Pay should they not also have a bank card terminal (for NFC payments). Even my local laundromat and roadside car wash place accept QR Pay for a long while now, instead of how it was in the past constantly having to find change or stock some cash up in your wallet. This was my experience not just in KL/Klang Valley (the city), but also in other rural places throughout the peninsular.

Heck, should you need to, you don't even need your bank card to take out money from an ATM - you only need your phone to do that. My wallet's only filled with foreign money, otherwise I'd only have cash in my possession once~twice a year to give Angpow or Duit Raya. Some government/public facilities I've been to don't even accept cash anymore. I think people just hate having to withdraw cash so often or have change lying around. I suspect this thing is no different in most other #SEA countries, seeing the growing number of countries where Malaysia's DuitNow QR Pay is compatible with - its counterparts.

I suspect that Adyen (Netherlands) has skewed data, since it's more likely that China is the biggest cashless country, but foreign companies aren't allowed to operate financial services there.

I've finally figured out the reason why they're pushing this new proprietary framework at work. Our CEO thinks that this new "magical" framework is gonna solve all the problems he's seeing in our projects.

The thing is, he's confusing issues with the developers (and the management) as issues with the current frameworks.

He thinks this new framework is gonna magically make all the bugs disappear and make project development twice as fast.

Obviously, using an LLM to choose a 'random number' is going to not actually generate a random or pseudorandom number. LLMs aren't actually able to run random number code, it'll just choose from a small subset of 'random' that it's read before.

Letting regular people use LLMs in an open ended way is leading to a lot of nonsense :neocat_facepalm:

In this week's #AtsumareSasamori, somewhere in the middle, Kyon and Sasa somehow answer a question about morning routines and shaving.

Humans are hairy, and remembering to shave is a bitch, so I bought a Philips Lumea and zapped the hell out of annoying hairs during lockdowns. I used to have to deal with a unibrow, excessive sideburns, and random facial hair, and now I just need to do a maintenance zap every few months. I also had ridiculously sweaty smelly armpits, so I zapped off my pit hairs to apply Certain Dri Prescription Strength Clinical Antiperspirant. Super worth it. :leafeonmoney:

Also, in they were discussing How To Train Your Dragon. In Japanese, it is called Hick and Dragon (ヒックとドラゴン).

And the dragon Toothless in Japanese is called Tooth (トゥース).

Interesting how Toothless in Japanese is a single 🦷 Tooth. Why? How did the translation end up like that?

So I've been testing various drinks with my new Nitro machine with stuff other than normal teas

  • Milk. Holds bubbles very well. Apparently Starbucks experimented with this and it was well received vs regular froth
  • Chocolate milk. Yes.
  • Genmaicha, this is AMAZING. That it looks like 🍺 beer and somehow makes it better. My brain is weird

If anyone's tempted to try this, wish me luck on my plan for global tea cafe domination. The Nitro DS is a $500 machine that's definitely meant for cafe instead of home use.

Nitrogen fizzes out really quickly. Nitro Pepsi bombed so badly because the drink became a flat Pepsi within 10 minutes of opening the can. Milk seems to hold better, similarly stuff like Genmaicha is a surprise. But yeah, if the bubbles don't keep, then it'd be useless for takeout.

Nitrogen is magic because it somehow makes the drink taste sweeter instead the acidic taste from carbonation too.

I’m so shocked that Henjin salada didn’t have any ecchi regarding Sara. They even went to Sousuke adopting her, like wow it was actually touching.
