With the war crimes and ethnic cleansing perpetrated by Israel in Palestine, I have seen people mentioning September 12th: a toy world. The game is 20 years old this year, but remains in my opinion one of the most elegant cases of #NarrativeDesign, i.e. a simple gameplay telling something complex.     I understand that the heads of Mimimi Games want to stop (these are good reasons!), but why closing the company when it could be given to their workers, becoming this way a big cooperative? Workers could refused such a deal, but has it even been proposed to them? 🤔

    If it becomes just an empty structure, it's going to be a lot of passive income money thanks to their back catalogue, just for the few remaining people...

    My brother and I have built a zeer pot ("desert cooler"), and ours is at the same time impressive and perfectly useless.

    Impressive because two clay pots, a frisbee, a mop, sand and water make the temperature lower by 5°C (9°F).

    Useless because 23°C (73°F) is not a good temperature for storing vegetables or even cooling a beer.

    I must admit that the "Carbon footprint/climate shadow" article is a nonsense to me. Of course, individual actions should be done the right way. But they are more than little steps to save climate. They are the beta test of a better world.

    The example of a climate scientist taking plane asks the following question: so can't we imagine a world where science still exists while plane travels are banned?

    @kathhayhoe Greta Thumberg is used as an example as someone with a great climate shadow. And that's true 👍

    But how many climate activists cross the Atlantic Ocean by sail to give a speech about global warming, like she does? Her "climate shadow" works also because she pays attention to her carbon footprint, so her message becomes listenable. It's not like Hollywood actors giving lessons before taking their yacht and private jet.

    @jon If I can make a suggestion 🙂 It’s been several weeks I spend one hour per day exploring the Bois de Vincennes by bike. Every day a new surprise: secret places, wild animals, or just someone playing an instrument alone in the woods. It’s a really pleasant time!

    I've been told that my questions at game dev talks are embarrassing 😕

    "How do you unite a team around a game that conveys such cynical political views?" I asked to Frostpunk's lead ND.

    "Do you try to address the imperialist essence of the 4X genre in the narration?" I asked to an Amplitude's ND.

    "Do you think the game industry will realise it can't be sustainable by producing AAA games?" I asked to the participants of the carbon footprint round table.

    It's sad to see how little The Wreck has sold, especially when you know how good the game is.     @raptor85 If there is no market for a deep and artistic game like The Wreck (which has been unanimously acclaimed by the journalists and the few players who purchased it), should we not make it? Why the Market has to decide what game can see light and what game shouldn't be made? We indies have all lived similar stories, so his question hits us right in the heart: why, despite having the Market against us, do we keep making games?
