Been making some good progress on my new cast on - a comfy hoodie for the colder months. I wasn't sure about the gold to start with so put a lifeline in in case I want to chop it off, but now the body is growing and it's less intense I'm happier with it.

This cow at home keeps escaping and everyone keeps sharing photos on WhatsApp. My phone auto-downloads, I swear I now have more pictures of this creature than I do my own nieces.

'To celebrate their 25th Anniversary in Crieff and to say ‘thank you’ to the Shakoor family for a quarter century of fast-food service to Crieff, the town's Community Council facilitated the design of the Snakatak tartan. It adds the green and white of the flag of Pakistan to Snakatak's brand colours and an appropriate "culinary" band of turmeric. The numerous small squares comprise 25 threads each to mark the occasion.' 🥳

The Blas Festival starts tomorrow - there's a bunch of free online events (donations accepted), as well as in-person stuff, celebrating the music, song, culture and language of the Highlands.

I'm looking forward to watching Ewen Henderson's composition 'Lèirsinn' on 6 Sept, and Ceòl nam Fèis on 9 Sept.

Finally made it to the cast-off edge of my Shawlshank Redemption. I've almost used up all the white yarn I had remaining from my last project, but reckon I only have enough left for either one more rib row or the cast-off - trying to decide whether to finish now with a white BO in pattern, or add a tiny bit more length and do a blue/silver contrast tubular BO.

A poem for Tom Leonard's birthday. 'in hospital' is the first poem I ever knew by him; my mum gave it to me on a postcard when I was still quite young. Later I found out who he was - an extraordinary force. I still love this one.

-Folk music and culture; I play mostly Scottish tunes on a baritone uke
-Socialism; my PhD looks at the Scottish Folk Revival's relationships with cultural hegemony
-Food and drink and cooking; plus I make a pie a month
-Knitting; I've knitted all my life
-Highland Perthshire; where I’m from, and have been trying to move home to
-Board games; e.g. Viticulture cause I'm bougie, Wingspan cause I'm basic
