So, obviously, as a long-time #Reddit user, I'd like to jump ship for #Lemmy / #kbin - but I'm not entirely sure how. I already self-host #Mastodon, my #Fediverse identity lives there, I'd like to just do stuff on Lemmy forums with it. However, this seems to be... not really possible? Like, Lemmy and Mastodon basically don't interop beyond being able to see communities as Group profiles and comment on posts by shoving their URLs into the search like you do with foreign Mastodon posts.

@kmeisthax well here some tricks I saw and learned. You can't make threads(aka become topic starter) from Mastodon. What you can do is. Open discussion on Lemmy/Kbin> copy link>paste it in search url. You can comment either to someone and see answers from your post or answer to topic starter. Another trick every lemmy/kbin have rss feature. So you can have rss feed of your beloved community my ex. https://kbin.social/rss?magazine=arknights to your rss reader. Or there is https://mastofeed.org/ and make bot post.

@kmeisthax It's temporary solutions as I saw news about groups for mastodon being developed and Kbin has it's own inovations soon. But it's good tricks to know and you can make mastodon bots for niche magazines where you are interested in any disscusion. You can opt bots from search to not have many bots posting on #anime #games or smt like that.

It seems like is really trying to shut down the now. They are now actively removing ENTIRE mod teams where there communities posted content on subreddits where the moderators allowed it.

Reddit is clearly of the opinion that moderators are no longer the masters of their subreddits and can be removed without any real wrongdoing.

I feel that the Reddit mods really fucked up their protest.

I know that the thinly veiled threats are scary, and I'm not going to do their unpaid labour the disservice of assuming they just didn't want to lose power. It would be painful for anyone to spend that much time doing something and have it be ripped away.

That said, replacing that many mods at once would have been a monumental task for Reddit if they had been forced to do so. Mods shouldn't have caved.

@Jormar for more visibility sure, but atm we can't filter nsfw content so we use from mastodon side incase like have r34 bot posting. When Kbin will have more functions to curate feed than we might listen to for now is only tag that Magazine will pick up in Microblog section. And it's why I only use Mastodon for discussions, to see what limitations are and pitfalls we can encounter. For example 500 words count and I am at my limi...

I'm planning to self-host a Reddit like instance for myself, but I'm between Lemmy and kbin . Essentially I want to host my own data, and jump into discussions from other communities.

With a limited search results, people praise for , and bash developers about their world and political views, however Lemmy is written with , and Kbin with .

I just want to migrate to what people will be using to.

So, which solution would you prefer?

You know this Spez guy is not so bad. Why not make a bot same as gandalfbot from r/lotrmemes. It's not like he will be ashamed of his words? His quotes like "The blackouts are not representative of the greater Reddit community" and "My favorite analogy for Reddit is that of a city" "Hi Snoos" "We have not seen any significant revenue impact so far and we will continue to monitor." @Xperr7 My favourite would be Nearl Light, especially as I was introduced to MN rerun a week earlier.As a child I really liked stories about knights and weapon of my choice would be sword. Of course you later learn that Knight mean Nobility so it ain't all white. So story about tournaments where corporate manipulate Veterans, newbies get shafted and infected basically gladiators that try to survive discrimination and associated as plague bearers.Special mention to Children of Ursus vignette.

@Mr_Mofu Funny thing, our #arknights community while split on using reddit or discord or joining kbin m/Arknights try to give Kbin a chance when more people get sick of reddit and want to join same community in fediverse. So as I said the news bot we want, won't show up on Kbin. We need to make a Mastodon bot that will copy and paste news bot posts on Kbin. And I found https://happycoding.io/tutorials/java/libraries/mastodon4j . So Release the floof bot!

@Xperr7 My experience huh. Well my first 2 days when Reddit blackout started I found some reddit advise to try Mastodon. So spent those days wandering Mastodon.social looking via hastag reddit what's happening and finding good sources to track and news what has been done. Later via fluke of genius gone on webcache of r/Arknights and found discord. Right now seeing how Elon musk is a ideal for Reddit CEO, push me further and further to delete 11 year old account.

@Xperr7 My only regret is having an ifttt search under my reddit account for free games on r/gamedeals while I myself holding impulse to open Relay and get my dose of catgirls or Arknights discussion, anime and games or Warframe which I played till PC got too outdated for the game. I would like to give a praise to to not only for their support of charities but for making new home called dormi.zone. Hope we can give Arknights players another home for discussion.

Light levels are your greed meter essentially yeah more options, but it gets harder and low light is requirement to get 3rd ending via event node on last floor. Also most times those additional paths are challenge stages and need a key to go that route. #arknights #IS3 man answering from Mastodon and 0 context make this nonsense!

@Mr_Mofu basically need to make account instead of just seeing them from this site. Federation is a link some link with everyone, some link with some instances and some become your centralised site with ability to join back federation on hosts will.

I searched #arknights and found Mastodon bot for Arknights EN @ ArknightsEN@ hello.2heng.xin but it's not ending mastodon.social, it's on Chinese server called little forest.

Same for my Kbin account @Kotking .

But I can't find/follow from Kbin account Mastodon account on little forrest aka Arknights bot specifically.
So.

@2deverywhere @Mr_Mofu well as I mentioned earlier dedicated to anime/manga Mastodon cut link to Mastodon.social so there always exceptions. Only thing that rub me wrong way that when I tested with little forest from kbin it didn't say they are closed, it's just said no page found. This will make people question and angry. And on that site they mentioned that they don't want to make public their ban list.

r/arknights and the blackout moving forward (www.reddit.com)

I think Reddit has shown it is no longer is the same open source, transparent, and community driven platform it used to be. Today's Reddit is huge, and it will still be relevant 5 years from now, and I don't think it will have a Digg incident. So to that end, the sub should just stay open to help new players....

Trying out fediverse thing on practice. And yeah basically we got slapped on a wrist (and poor Apollo dev got dunk in cold water) and must endure it as reddits top try to get more ad views. No compromise, no discussion, short deadline after long non answers (we knew about nsfw being only on official app a few months ago and that is a debacle to address). So you can't look back at #reddit and say yeah I have community there I won't leave. Free moderation≠being abused.
