The Epaulette shark is only about 9 million years old as a species, making it the most recent branch in the shark family. And it is slowly but surely evolving into a land animal!

You will have to choose your side!

HELP THEM! “We' missed you, pal!” “Their filthy Water" "If you see a Horrid Beast evolving, welcome them home.

Sometimes when you learn how something works, you think, Thanks knowledge, that really helped, everything makes more sense, and other times you look up how wrists turn, and it's like WTF?!

Klaxun,
@Klaxun@mastodon.social avatar

@RickiTarr You should look up the lumbrical muscles in the hand! They're unique because they don't attach to bone even though they move bones.

of course my car decides to start throwing Engine Malfunction messages and randomly going into limp mode on the Sunday immediately before the bank holiday Monday when I'm meant to be driving to EMF, meaning I can't get it to a mechanic for diagnostics let alone a repair in time.

OBD-II scanner shows nothing at all, inbuilt test mode shows two generic DTC codes that provide no useful information other than it's maybe a sensor doing something wrong.

ffs.

Klaxun,
@Klaxun@mastodon.social avatar

@gsuberland Not for nothing, but that redex will take more than five minutes of run time to fix the problem if it's a problem it can fix. Is the sensor that was indicated easy to get to and replace?

Klaxun,
@Klaxun@mastodon.social avatar

@gsuberland if your car is going into limp mode, that's happening because of something your car's computer is seeing. Those DTC codes are absolutely going to be relevant to that.

Klaxun,
@Klaxun@mastodon.social avatar

@gsuberland By 'functioning state', do you mean the codes have been there since you got the car, or do you mean the codes are there now before the computer puts your car in limp mode? The computer will require a fault to be in place for a set amount of time before it initiates limp mode to avoid every fluke transient fluctuation causing chaos.

Klaxun,
@Klaxun@mastodon.social avatar

@gsuberland
First step: check your oil level and transmission fluid level. If your fluids are low, fill them. Are they the right color? Do they smell burnt or funky? Put some of each on your fingertip and rub it between your finger and thumb. Feel any grit? Are there metallic flakes visible in the fluid? Now check your steering fluid the same way. Next, when the engine is cool, make sure there is coolant in your radiator.

Klaxun,
@Klaxun@mastodon.social avatar

@gsuberland Does your scanner monitor things like Speed sensors, the MAF, MPS and TPS while the engine is running? If so, watch them while driving. (Be careful you don't crash) If your scanner will record, do that so you can take a closer look later.

Klaxun,
@Klaxun@mastodon.social avatar

@gsuberland Now, if you are able, pull your spark plugs and inspect them. Do they look normal? Google what a normal spark plug looks like. There should be charts that will show you what an abnormal plug looks like and what faults can be indicated by those abnormalities. While you are under the hood, look closely at everything that is visible under there. Does anything strike you as unusual or out of place?

Klaxun,
@Klaxun@mastodon.social avatar

@gsuberland Okay. Are your fluids all good?

Klaxun,
@Klaxun@mastodon.social avatar

@gsuberland Oh snap. Did they break something?

Klaxun,
@Klaxun@mastodon.social avatar

@gsuberland
Maybe it will go away again!

Klaxun,

@gsuberland Okay, okay. Hopefully, it stays away and lets you enjoy your weekend.

I could sit and watch my newly self-repaired icemaker crank out buckets of the stuff all day. I haven’t felt this satisfied with a DIY home repair since I replaced the washtub shocks in my top loading washing machine. That was a great day to be alive.

@shoq I recently replaced some washing machine shocks. The video online made it look easy, but those things were tough to get out.

There are two of you inside a wolf. One of you is wearing a sweater and the other you is wearing a sweatshirt. The wolf is wearing a hoodie. Everyone involved is like, uncomfortably warm.

BREAKING (the climate):
Based on daily values, the April average of atmospheric CO₂ at Mauna Loa was 426.5-426.6 ppm. That's a big jump of ~3.2 ppm from last year's 423.35 ppm!

It's also the highest CO₂ concentration the world has experienced in 14 million years.
