According to reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi: if you are on Threads and want to be seen in the Fediverse you'll have to go to your settings and opt in

I suspect most people will not know what it is or won't care so most Threads accounts won't be visible from Mastodon & Co, only those who really want to be seen

On one hand it means the Fediverse won't be flooded with Threads accounts but on the other hand it's wise to give people a choice

@ryanhoulihan The network effect is very powerful, people don't want to leave a community they sometimes built for years and that's particularly true when they're lonely/isolated in real life

However Twitter / X is bleeding users, there's no doubt about that so it's a gradual, slow-paced decline and it's not like the app just kept its strength and relevance. The fact X is doing far worse in terms of mobile downloads in most countries compared to last year is pretty telling

The CEO at my husband’s work is so infuriated that the managers let them work from home to avoid commuting during a blizzard that he just sent a company wide email banning anyone from working from home EVER.

@ReneeWestberry but why do CEOs hate work from home that much? At least in the US because I don't hear much complaints here in Belgium...

That's great news, after everything that happened it seemed that Fediverse integration was dead for Tumblr but no! Between Tumblr and Threads people on Mastodon & others will have a massive amount of new content to see and many people to follow in 2024!

@christianschwaegerl @kcarruthers @Ruth_Mottram Europe can defend itself, it's pure American arrogance to think Putin can take it over even with the US out. The combined military budget of EU nations is around 250 billion dollars, way more than Russia. A weakened Russia at that as the war in Ukraine really exhausted them

@thierna @kcarruthers Even if Trump loses again we need an EU defense anyway, we can't just rely on the US for protection and that's what Macron said for years, only reason it never happens is because Eastern European nations think the US would never abandon them

Let's do it, even with a Biden's second term

According to the last Bluesky tracker that's still active (jaz.bsky.dev) November has been the first month of decline in terms of daily active users:

It went from a record high of 180k users on October 18 to as low as 129k on November 25 before rising again a bit in the following days

October 2023: 170k daily active users on average
November 2023: 140k average

It happened despite Bluesky adding over 500k new users in November, momentum's over...

During my break something made me sad and it's the fact Tumblr gave up on joining the Fediverse and decided to scale down considerably with a skeleton staff for simple maintenance

Unfortunate because I feel it would have been a valuable addition to the Fedi and the idea of decentralized socials as this place has a very specific culture and a relatively sizable audience

Oh well...

J'ai reçu une big vague de followers sur Bluesky mais absolument aucun ici alors que j'ai partagé les deux dans le même message sur :twitter: c'est à ne rien y comprendre genre là-bas y'a pas les gifs, pas les hashtags, pas de messages privés et j'en passe ☹️ objectivement c'est nul. Alors pourquoi ça se rue et s'active là-bas ?

Edit : et en plus c'est que sur invitation !

@fenarinarsa @Joystikman @kita59 @Velvetshadow il suffit de regarder les téléchargements sur ios et Android dans les plus gros marchés hors UE pour se rendre compte qu'en matière de croissance Threads est très loin devant Bluesky et Mastodon qui n'apparaissent quasiment jamais dans le Top 200. Par exemple début Septembre une campagne pub pour Threads a eu lieu sur Instagram au Japon et Threads est devenu l'app la plus téléchargée pendant des jours sur Android et Top 5 iOS, bon maintient depuis

It took me many months but I finally managed to complete Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, reaching 100% wasn't easy but it was so worth it!

My favorite Zelda game, it's just crazy that a game of this scale and ambition can even run on Switch, it looks so good too! I'm so satisfied with it on every level!

Waiting several years before we get a whole new 3D Zelda will be hard but I'm excited to see what they'll do with a much more powerful hardware!

@KleinDanny Yeah, I understand the feeling. Unless it's Xenoblade or Zelda I usually don't go with the 100% with all the games there's to play but here it's Zelda TOTK so it was my priority ^^

I love what Mastodon did here with the hashtags, look at the bottom of the picture!

I put my hashtags at the end of the post when typing it but instead of appearing in the published post they appeared out of band and in a more visually pleasant aesthetics as well

It works only when the hashtags are put at the end of the post but knowing this that's how I'll operate now and I hope all sites using hashtags will take inspiration from this in the future!
