@TarkabarkaHolgy Happy New Year! Trying to get back to reading more. There are 7 books on my bedside table, and I bought myself a reading journal. Right now I’m in the middle of The Blackwater series by Michael McDowell

Took a free online sketching class from TobySketchLoose. It was really fun and took away my fear of going in ink first(no pencil sketch). Not worrying about mistakes, and having a bit more fun with colours. I’m not quite as free and loose with drawing as I’d like to get, but his class took me forward! #UrbanSketching #WatercolourAndInk #UrbanSketchers

Simple loose sketch of a red brick, two story house. We were only allowed to use red, yellow and blue as the colours. So I painted everything but the front of the house blue, and added red to the sides and roof for shading and yellow to the trees and bushes for greens.
Pen and watercolour sketch of an old village house. Varied colours in the roof, with some paint spatter for interest. White plaster with dark wood vertical beams on the top story, and soft, sandy stone on the bottom floor. Two people walk by the front door, unpainted to bring attention to them.
A little two story cottage with many bushes and trees. This was a paint first, then ink exercise. Warm, sandy stone and dark roof, and bright blue doors.

Booked a trip to #Edinburgh with my daughter for May next year. Terribly excited! Taking any suggestions for things to do and see that may not be on the usual lists. Great coffee shops? Book stores? Street food? Pubs? Can we get a Morton’s roll? Should I try Irn Bru? Local beers(I like pilsners) Afternoon tea? #Scotland #JoinIn

@arratoon I wouldn’t have thought of that, thanks! I’ve been searching around for interesting places to sit and sketch, have a beer, or coffee, and a meal. Quiet places, unassuming, but fabulous, you know? Just wandering on google maps, everything looks so incredibly gorgeous. It’s a bit overwhelming, but in a good way.

Feeling nostalgic for the days of my youth I went searching for photos of #Ottawa in the 80’s/90’s, sadly they are hard to come by. I would love to sketch my long gone hangouts, but where to turn for pics?
Would love to see photos of Bagel Bagel, One Step Beyond, Cafe Wim, Cafe Bohemian, Beavertails, William Street Cafe…

Forsythia flowers. One branch splitting into a few , covered in warm yellow flowers with brown centres. Quick sketch, branch is centred. Yellow and brown are the only colours used.
Made up pink flower. 8 petals, long stem and spikey leaves. Petals are flat and papery, touching each other, centre is reddish brown. Started with a circular blob of pink and turned it into a flower.
Warm yellow vase with a stalk of green leaves, pale pink background. Caught my eye in a art prompt a few weeks ago.
