Alright, lots of heavy discussions today, so let's talk about something silly!

What is a movie that always makes you laugh?

Personal pick:

Anything Mel Brooks, but Robin Hood: Men in Tights, it's just funny every time I watch it.

@RickiTarr

The Big Lebowski and Office Space.

I go outside to look at my flowers and the squirrel is clicking at me in Morse code that he wants more almonds. I am owned by a squirrel.

The thing I’m enjoying the most about my Stephen King reading project is the references to characters and events of previous novels, and even cameos by characters we’ve met before. And, AND! I don’t know about you but frequently I’ll finish a book and wonder what happened to the characters, as if they were real people living real lives, into which I caught but a brief glimpse. Sometimes we actually find out, because of some random comment in the current book!

I've been thinking about makeup. I used to wear makeup when I worked, but now I don't. I don't think that I want all of that stuff on my face. What do you think about makeup? Any tips? Good products?

Sometimes the way people phrase things is so telling. For instance, telling women they should be "taking care of" their husband and children. Another adult doesn't need taken care of like a child, what you want is for women to be a Sex Mom.

Caiotekit,
@Caiotekit@convo.casa avatar

@RickiTarr What I want to know is...when they get women barefoot pregnant and in the kitchen....how is that going to work when it takes two incomes just to survive?

Caiotekit,
@Caiotekit@convo.casa avatar

@RickiTarr what I'm trying to get at is..that the GOP want to take it all the way back to when women stayed home and took care of the children and house. Like my mom did. At that time, families could live on one income. But now, the man, most likely can't provide for his wife and family. So does he get two jobs and never see his family? And that doesn't even take into account that there are many types of families now. Maybe I'm not making sense.

I just finished reading this book which was recommended to me by @cobalt. Thanks for the recommendation! I learned a lot about the brain and why we do and say things, the way we do. It was published in 2023, so recently. A good read and a keeper.

IT'S DOOONE! :blobcatred:

Used my red yarn to make this blobcat prototype before trying with my yellow, I'm really new to crochet this is only my second finished project and first time using a flat circle which came out really nice.

This is basically a flat circle with walls which I just sort of randomly reduced the stitching when it felt right. I mostly guessed with the ears by following a guide for making and attaching doll arms, then doing thar way shorter and putting it on the head.

The mouth was really hard, I didn't realise for Surface Crochet you need access to the underside and I'd already sealed the top and didn't want to re-open it so I sowed some thread in a general shape it came out OK.
I also didn't put enough stuffing inside so it doesn't feel as good to squish as it could, I'll add way more next time.

Overall, very enjoyable took me about a week to learn how to do the circle and then three to four days of intense crocheting once I got the hang of that.

I'd recommend crochet over #linux permissions or #Windows Defender any day.

I slept in this morning and when I came downstairs, my husband had a woeful tale to tell. Seems the squirrel came for a visit and there was NO FOOD for him. So he had to feed the squirrel, but by the time he got it all together, the squirrel was gone. I'm sure he'll come by later.

Okay, its a terrible picture and its not ironed cause its way too hot to iron. The pattern is straight, fabric is just bundled up under it.

by . Stitched on white 16ct aida fabric, using approx 370 metres of black DMC thread, 6 needles used. Final stitched area is - 55cm wide and 69cm high.

This was a labour of love, a challenge, a reward to myself, part of my journey.

Its done now.

Whenever I'm depressed or in despair, I like to read No. 1 Ladie's Detective Agency. There's always a good ending. I love Mma Ramotswe. She's a good woman of traditional build and someone I look up to. There was one season of this on TV and I wish it would have continued. It was so good.

I am OBSESSED with The Frosted Stitch's Grunge collection.

https://thefrostedstitch.ca/collections/grunge

I have a "no buying yarn unless you have a project in mind" rule, buuuut I might have ordered 5 skeins for a yet-to-be-planned sweater project 🙈

I'm thinking something like this cabled mesh sweater? With those traditional 90s punk stripes (you know the ones). With or without the color work skull (to be decided)

@knitting @fiberarts

A cable and mesh sweater, found through Google search and available from Walmart and other retailers. It's an oversized drop shoulder pattern, with cables along the sides and mesh down the front and sleeves. There's a skull and crossbones on the front that's clearly printed on top and not actually color work

Caiotekit,
@Caiotekit@convo.casa avatar

@Axiom @knitting @fiberarts Nice color choices 👌 I've always liked gray with a mustardy color.
