This article by N. Casemajor & W. Straw is very exciting and relevant far beyond the research on : they argue to take up the concept of the "scene" for a "research agenda". Similar to our research on , the point is that the emergence of media technologies cannot be understood without analysing the figurations of their social imaginaries. In social science research, there has been a lengthy discussion about how material aspects of , and can be adequately theorised and whether "constructivist" or "realist" approaches are more appropriate. In our paper, @couldrynick and I try to show that simple dichotomies don't help and why a "materialist phenomenology", on the other hand, is more useful. https://doi.org/10.6092/issn.1971-8853/15793

A nice overview of anthropomorphising AI narratives by @tante at : „learns“, „works“ like the human brain, can „solve“ tests, will be „more intelligent“ than humans, „thinks“, „decides“, „understands“, „hallucinates“.

AI thus becomes a „sham subject“ - and this is the problem because AI is a form of , which is enforced by humans.
