I love this small waterfall, about 5-foot tall. When the temperature is high, I see people bathing here 😊

From Arethusa Falls trail a couple years ago. We didn't make it to all of the falls since the teen and I were having irreconcilable differences that day. “;^)
At this location in North Carolina, the mountains drop off abruptly into the Piedmont hills: the Appalachian Escarpment. Weather patterns create unusually large amounts of rain. Huge granite rock faces generate waterfalls in large numbers. You can see five to ten in a single day.

A large tree has fallen down a steep slope in The Smoky Mountain National Park, forming a waterfall of sorts of mossy wood cascading down the hillside. Based on the age, this is probably one of the trees killed in the 2016 Smoky Mountains fires.
