In 2015, Nepal was hit by a 7.8-magnitude earthquake. Durbar Square in Kathmandu (which is full of temples and palaces and is a Unesco world heritage site) was abdolutely wrecked by the earthquake. I visited in 2022 and there were still buildings that were 100% leveled and buldings that were being propped up to keep them from falling over.
I will always remember all of the religious pilgrims there and the occasional goat staked out next to a temple.
The Notre Dame de Strasbourg Cathedral was dedicated to the Virgin Mary between the 13th and 15th centuries. In 1988, the Strasbourg Cathedral was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. I visited in 2019.
