A while ago, a fellow translator here was looking for other translators to follow. It’s been 5 months since her post, so I thought I’d ask the same thing: translators, where are you? Boost if you know any translators or professionals working in the translation industry. I’d love to meet fellow translators here so we can get discuss our routines, our joys, CPD, and everything in between.
The Dunning-Kruger effect plays an important part in the #translation industry: too many people with only basic foreign language skills ("We've all learned English in school!") making statements and decisions on issues they should leave to specialists.
Hence the popularity of machine translation: if you don't know what it takes to create a quality translation, you'll accept anything that looks like a translation, without checking all those things a professional #translator knows can go wrong.
Hi everyone! Just want to do another intro because I got an influx of followers the last few days. Welcome & nice to meet you~
I am a writer, poet, and literary translator. I spend a lot of time these days thinking about wuxia (loosely translated as martial arts) fiction, non-western narrative structures, Classical Chinese poetry, folklore, unofficial histories, c-dramas, language learning, and equity issues within the fields of publishing and translation. #writingcommunity#writer#translator
