Morning Friends. Maybe the good morning will arrive later #today. I woke up terrorized from a mass shooting nightmare. I immediately checked my phone next to the bed for the news. These nightmares have happened before, usually they are hospital dreams. The worst nightmare was in the morning of Sept 11. I won’t describe the carnage. We were camping in CO so when I woke up I figured it was from the high elevations. But, no.😢
I have high hopes this Monday will improve, it has too, I’m retired! 😁😘
For my early morning walk today, I walked along the sidewalks by the nearby houses rather than heading for the pond and the more wooded areas as I normally do. I scrutinized every porch, and my efforts were rewarded: I found my mis-delivered package! I hope no one saw me taking it and thought I was a porch pirate.
I am so relieved that I don't need to hassle with trying to get a replacement or a refund. And now I will sink into nostalgia, listening to the music of my youth.

Well...didn't get out of bed til almost 7 this morning and that makes me late for getting the day started...it's warm enough to get on the outdoor bike in a long sleeved t-shirt and get the first of three outdoor rides in and that is a welcome change from having to wait to ride until the temp comes up enough so I don't freeze my hands...I do need to do some meal planning today to change up what I've been eating and add some variety...good morning! #today
I have an audiologist appointment later. I'll officially become hard of hearing, a new identity.
I wonder what new things I'll hear when I have hearing aids.
They won't help me hear the things I don't listen to. Decades of working in a cube farm trained me to cut out background chatter. It's not that I don't hear it. I just filter it out.
I wonder what else I've filtered out of my life.

I just got emails that sure looked like official messages from my bank saying I'd added a Zelle recipient and sent him a bunch of money.
Of course I didn't click on any of the links; I just went to my bank's website and checked my accounts, and everything is fine. Also: The Zelle messages referenced an account ending in four digits which match none of my bank accounts.
So a warning that fake messages like this are circulating.

The sun is shining again #today. I've got weekly chores to take care of but also feeling some motivation for some project work. I enjoyed working on my current essay draft yesterday and may spend more time with it. I have some new kit for the brewery, good reason to resume work on my can seamer as well. More time enjoying Hades II may be in the cards.
Our son is visiting tonight, something we always look forward to.
Mornings always have such potential, if only for the chance to stop and think for a moment before the outside world tries to get inside me.
Sometimes it's only a moment before my brain weasels take over. They decide what will happen next in a cascade of seemingly random efforts, no more under control than a fistful of ping pong balls thrown down a concrete stairwell.
Another slow start #today after staying up late hanging out with the #MutantFam.
I've already had more tea. I took advantage of today's sun to catch up on skipping yard work yesterday. The timing of the recent days and days of rain and the limited chances to deal with the speed the grass in our backyard now grows has invited mushrooms to invade.
Tonight I will go to a friend's birthday party at my favorite local taproom.
Good #Slackerday morning to you. I'll join the chorus of folks who did NOT see the aurora borealis last night. Our chances were slim, due to thick clouds, so my expectations were low. I never saw them during a 3-week trip to Alaska, years ago. I love the photos people are sharing, though. Keep them coming! 💗

After years of multi-player games, I'm immersed again in single players. Part of my paring down to the foundations, I think. Looking for the base on which to build again.

Reading shows me other worlds, but games become mirrors of myself. Not always a pretty picture, but it seems to be working.

Donned shorts and flip-flops for the first time this year. Croc ones and they were too uncomfortable. I popped in White Rose and they had a Nike pair. They are sooo comfy 😊
Did a photo shoot at my friends studio. I brought costumes and hats for people to wear for my photo groups Funny Photos exhibition we are doing.
Spent the rest of the day outside the pub with my friends in the sun.
It's always weird to get my parent's mail (I have the exact name of my father). I also get my mom's mail too, which tracks as as far as I'm aware they are still married. I'm reminded of my choice of going no contact and how it's improved my mental health overall. I'm glad that I checked the mail after drinking coffee. Otherwise, my two brain cells would've stalled for several minutes while the third woke up during the caffeine ingestion phase of my day. 😂
I am leaning into no meeting Friday with a slower start this morning. I puttered for a while which also gave my mind time to ponder my larger tasks ahead #today.
I've been processing my thoughts on equanimity from last night into how I want to approach work for my $dayjob. Mostly I am appreciating that there is no overblown sense of urgency. I want to do my best work and am re-learning what that looks like after 2+ years of a very different environment.
I spent another good day #today working out thoughts and next steps for $dayjob.
Leaning more into curiosity led to me being happier with each iteration. I felt a lot less like checking specific boxes that needed filling and more like I was finding the best way to share my ideas and questions with my collaborators.
Another day, another chapter, as I settle back into my routine today.
Still, the weather grows mild & my AllTrails app keeps sending me temptation. The trails beckon. This year, I’ll explore the trails on Blue Mountain to the west. I haven’t there in years or done serious hiking there.
Summer is always a reminder of why I live where I do. It’s literally an outdoor playground and my health is greatly improved.
