I would like to create a small #website as a starting point for #plugin developers who want to support #linux as a platform for #musicproduction. I plan to interview existing #linuxaudio#developers like u-he, TAL, AudioThing, Bitwig and others about this. Who of you would like to accompany and/or support me with this? 😊
@consint Don't worry. I do not have the time to do this at the moment either. But I'd still like to get it started. Help is not really needed. I was more looking for like-minded people to make the most of it (#swarmintelligence and such 😝) and overall just to share the journey, the fun. 😇
I guess I was just excited about the recent feedback I've gotten from some really great #plugin#vendor (s) out there and wanted to pave the way for an easier entry for future vendors who want to join in.
While I try to get it fixed somehow (only way I see at the moment is an repair cafe) I work with 2 display I scavenged.
Nothing easier than that I thought, simply buy a USB-C dock with two HDMI ports. Boy was I wrong.
It works fine on Linux.
On Windows both display use the same resolution which leads to a distorted image on the higher resolution display.
On #MacOS both external screens show the same image. This is said to be a limit of MacOS but I have a hard time believing this. I can add a second USB-C to HDMI Adapter and both external displays just work fine. Additionally it should be possible daisy chain thunderbolt displays. So it feels rather like an artificial technical issue. E.g. the vendor would need to use different more expensive chip (or really use Thunderbolt).
Can anyone #Recommenced a Dock which supports two or more display on MacOS?
Is there an #app for #Android that shows me all available #mobile wireless networks and if #5G is theoretically possible even if my current provider doesn't offer 5G? The phone supports 5G. I want to know what alternatives I have.
I'm finally planning to leave Google-Docs (shared document editing) and Amazon Prime (unlimited Photo Backup) as well as DropBox
I'm looking for recommendations and experience reports. #Boost welcome
It doesn't need to be free and self hosting is an option. Regarding the (photo) backup I'm looking for online storage as I would like a protection against something like the flat burning down.
Photos only would be around 1TB. Preferable I would like to mirror my local backups (Time machine) as well which leads to a storage need of maybe 10TB.
I would love the online storage to be encrypted. But again it should be restore-able when everything else is lost (and offline save and secure key storage should be possible)
What would you recommend?
Local OwnCloud and NAS mirroring to a cloud storage? How do you accomplish the (transparent) encryption? BoxCryptor would have been one solution but got bought by DropBox 😠
I'm looking for examples for communication graphs in the context of #cybersecurity
E.g. something mapping use cases like "Device Administration" to communicate protocols (HTTP(S), SSH, serial, ...) to (hardware) ethernet, wireless, ...
Something like a #Neo4J database with some query examples. Or anything else?
If you work in #Cybersecurity you sometimes encounter resistance to take steps to secure oneself (or the organisation). The argument often goes something like:
"I'm not a target"
"To attack us wouldn't be profitable"
"We are to minor/nobody knows me"
"We are not a bank"
...
To counter that I'm searching for stories of #LittleBreaches. In which a few 100 or thousand £¥$€ were stolen. Which maybe even had a "happy ending" (because they failed or the victims got reimbursed).
I'm looking for stories were listeners think "😳 that could have been me"
And stories which are in the news usually don't do this
I got a #Phishing/ #SPAM email with a really strange header. The header doesn't contain any "Received:" lines. As it "is" an external email IMHO there should be at least one of the local #SMTP-Server/#MTA
After it worked like a charm the last time, another #SwarmIntelligence#Nerd question. (Please boost for reach)
How can I (temporarily) disable all color output on a #Linux command line?
Background: I try to work in a sunny environment. Maximizing screen brightness it basically works fine BUT some command color their output (git, rail, ...). And blue or red output is very hard to read on the black background.
A had hoped that an
export TERM=xterm-mono
would do the trick, but sadly not.
Any ideas on how to accomplish this are welcome
(I would like to avoid switching of color output for each command separately so 😠 )
