I steel myself and send off a bunch of subs to various magazines
Occasionally this is followed by an #acceptance or two, usually very quickly. Honeymoon period.
Then I get to wait 1-6 months for the rest of the responses, and this is sort of a dull doomed feeling, because these are inevitably #rejection emails.

To this day, I keep a binder of actual rejection letters I received back in the 80s. It's a reminder that I was doing my part, and every rejection letter was God saying: no, not here, not now. It felt free. One can find joy in rejection. Something better may await.
